I am at the basement on my second playthrough. Not much fun down there to be honest. Turned it off to play another time. Best part of the game for me is just before the basement. After that it just doesn't feel as interesting.

I might have rethink my list. As it mught be as I feared, this game might be much better on first go, but i won't get the urge to want to replay it in the future. Either that or I am tired as I don't fancy plaything anything at all. But pretty sure if the game was more of the mansion i would be glued still.

One thing that was pretty cool in the basement with PT is the lighting. The way it was shining out of the save room door looked pretty cool.

If you're still in the survival horror mood, check out Fatal Frame if you haven't already:

Fatal Frame II Remake is out in a couple of weeks:

Cheaper on Loaded btw, but no refund window if you're on the fence.

Apparently there's a demo for II out on the 5th.

I just finished the basement on my first playthrough and everything I have done since then has made me think that, like you said, the part before the basement is going to be the best part of the game.

I really haven't got on with Leon's sections so far either. Something about the way he controls feels off. It's very frustrating.

Not just me that thinks this then. I'm on my switch playing it and if I wasn't just chilling on my sofa being half social then I wouldn't have bothered with it. Before the basement I was really enjoying it, after...it's boring tbh. I don't even know if I'll finish it.

I gave Insanity a go with infinte ammo/ribbons, Freya's Needle, charms etc. Did most of the care center and the Requiem makes it quite easy, it just devastates everything. Didn't have much fun doing that though, it's not very RE so won't continue (and I don't care about achievements).

I'll continue with my no-bonuses insanity mode save data while I'm still having fun, curious how the changes to items etc affect things.

on my 2nd playthrough of this - didn't explore everything fully on my first play through but intend to explore everywhere on this one. 2nd playthrough is on the easier mode as it's about the exploration now.

Very enjoyable though.

To add to this, i've recommended some classic games and movies to my son. His response was he's watched YT walkthroughs and clips! WTF? But you haven't actually EXPERIENCED it.

I asked him to play Grace's first chapter, every time it went to a cut scene he was back on his phone :(
Wow, my nephew is the same. He tells me he has played all these games and completed them. Then when i play one of the games and ask him to takeover from me, he doesn't even know the buttons. Then confused, i ask him how he has completed a game without knowing the buttons. Turns out he watched a walkthrough. He owns the games, but doesn't play them. Same with TV series, turns out he is constantly fast forwarding the episodes to the good bits, resulting in him not really understanding the series. Attention span is like 5 mins.

That explains how my nephew watched all of breaking bad over a short period of time at our place. I was well confused as all episodes on Netflix showed watched. Never did ask him

Some strange **** right there.

Imagine that, kid tells you they completed a game and turns out what they mean is they fast forwarded a video of someone else completing it on YouTube   :o

Using an RTX 5090 and a 9800x3d, what dlss settings are people using? is there any difference with quality vs performance in DLSS? Path tracing on or off and are people using frame gen? I'm on 240hz screen, thanks!

Glad im not the only one, it did feel clunky to me his movement, still enjoyed the game, took me 15 hours, tried to explore everything, and still missed 4 files amd 7 mr raccoons, faffed about a lot and died a lot on the city glass part

I only missed 2 mr raccoons. Pretty sure both in racoon city area.

Files I have all up until racoon city. So need to do more exploring once I get to racoon city area :)

With that setup, try these combos and settle for one:

PT, DLSS Performance no FG.
PT, DLSS Quality FG 2x and also try FG 4x.
PT, DLSS Performance FG 2x.

Turn of usual guff like death of fiels, motion blur l, lens flair etc.
