Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City

In order, the best at the top:

Resident Evil Code Veronica
Resident Evil 2
Resident Evil (remake)
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil 5 (not resident evil, just a run of the mill 3rd person shooter)

I loved them all apart from the 5th one. The 3rd one was a bit meh but still very good.

LOL - It's rubbish! It is so pants on head bad! Guess you are a fan of mindless backtracking? What a chore of a game!

Ok ok it wasn't bad at the time, but it has aged terribly, more so than any other game I know.

Amusingly enough, it got 5/10 on the PSN re-release... which is still better than operation racoon city.

Finished the game now. Really not that bad when playing with 3 others online. Re- playability is not bad, i keep repeating missions to continue levelling my characters.

Code Veronica isn't bad at all. It is no contender to RE2 but it is a decent game. I quite liked the semi-3d (previous RE games had a rendered background whereas this had a fixed camera with 3D) graphics too.

I really enjoyed Code Veronica.
I initially played it on the Dreamcast, and now have it on the Gamecube (Wii) but haven't played it since the Gamecube release.

Resident Evil 2 was very good, initially played it on the Playstation, then again on the N64 and the Gamecube. IMO Code Veronica has aged better then RE2. The Resident Evil remake has aged the best out of all of them though (apart from RE4 because it's a lot newer).

What worries me is that Capcom issued a statement satying that the survival horror part of games is no longer sellable and so they are making their games more action orientated. WRONG.

I don't understand Capcom at all. Resident Evil has always sold well as a survival horror game. Maybe it's different in Japan. Maybe they want more action and as they are a Japanese company they give their loyal fans what they want but its not what the West wants at all and as much money as Japan makes Capcom Id say the rest of the world would make them more.

Although if you really think about it maybe we are to blame for more action and less survival horror. Look at RE5. That game was nothing like a Resi game. It was more action less survival horror YET it was Capcoms biggest Resident Evil success. Maybe they see that and think copy and paste action with new locations and new characters for RE6. Who can blame them. Yet the thing that gets me is the people who bought RE5 and completed it all complained it wasnt a real RE game and that it wasnt the best in the series and yet it sold the best and therefore we are sending mixed messages to Capcom.

I know it's difficult to say now but the more people that bought RE5 the more it said to Capcom no-one wants survival horror they want more action. So really even though we gave bad feedback we all bought it and so we are to blame I guess as Capcom obvioulsy dont read reviews and fan criticisms lol

To be honest as much as I'd like another true survival horror resident evil I'm wondering if I can handle it, quite used to check points every few seconds even on top difficulty.

Quite scared if I start CV on the 360 I won't be able to finish it, I haven't played it for years dunno if I has the patiences I once did :).

I am quite curious about raccon city. I think it looks pretty bad. Perfectly playable, but bad. I think i'd rent it if some mates did too, but i think they'd take some convincing :P From those that have played it, is there much of a story line? I know the game starts very abruptly with little introduction, but does it pick up? Or is the "storyline" more of an excuse to get you to keep shooting things? thx

The first disk is the better disk - once you get to Antarctica things go downhill, especially when you start playing as Chris. Also, get ready for one of the most annoying boss battles ever (tyrant).

Just a mini-heads up that many of you are probably aware of. I'm playing through deadspace at the moment and for the most part it's a virtual RE4 clone with current gen graphics. It's really good fun, although a little easy on the standard difficulty. Most notably it looks and sounds amazing.

Not as scary or as much variety as RE4, but really really worth picking this up :)

RE5 should have followed this trend :(
