Dear <name>,

As required by my contract of employment, I hereby give you four weeks’ notice of my intention to leave my position as Researcher.

I have decided that its time to move on and have accepted a position elsewhere. This was not an easy decision and took a lot of consideration. However, I’m confident that my new role will help me move towards some of the goals I have for my career.

Please be assured that I’ll do all I can to assist in the smooth transfer of my responsibilities before leaving.

I wish both you and <place of work> every good fortune and I would like to thank you for having me as part of your team.

Yours sincerely,
<me>

what do you think...yay or nay?

the first sentence although grammatically correct i personally think i've used the word 'my' too often :o (or am i looking into it too much?!)

You must have seen the same webpage as I did. :P. I've used a couple of sentences in my notice letter.

Although it seems my boss doesn't actually realise what it entails as he still thinks im going to be working for them in six weeks time. :(

Cut the gossip, like so:
Dear *,

As required by my contract of employment, I hereby give you four weeks’ notice of my intention to leave.

Yours sincerely,

I didn't quite put it as elegantly as you have, but yes, I have advised them when my last day is.

Hopefully I'll be working as a consultant to the company in a few weeks. :D

Kind of a lot of waffle isn't it?

My recent resignation letter was two lines and I felt the second one was superfluous.
