Not had a hugely great time lately, lots of family related problems over the past two weeks, therefore I've not been putting any time into my uni coursework. I've completed 2 of 3 modules but missed the deadline for the third one. Going a bit crazy trying to get the paper done but I don't have a clue about the subject, the module in general has always been a nightmare for me. I'm just so worried incase I fail it, I'll fail the whole year? I've still got the exam and stuff, just haven't managed to do the coursework. :(

Any experience?

Have you spoken to uni about your family problems? Could class as mitigating circumstances and allow you more time to do the coursework.

P.s. what are the rules surrounding late coursework submission? I only ask because at my uni you would have automatically got 0% on the coursework for failing to hand it in on time.

We always get a chance to retake an exam / do an alternate piece of coursework at the end of the year, which is capped at 40%.

Additionally we can resit just that module the following year alongside the next year's modules, again capped at 40%.

Nope, I'm worried incase they just think I'm at it, trying to get more time. The deadline was on Friday, so also thinking I've left it too long?

If I were you I would go talk to somebody at uni, don't just assume they will think you are lying. Whenever I have had to speak to a uni lecturer before, they have been very reasonable.

It depends entirely on your uni i think. Why not try going down the mitigating circumstances route? worth a try surely

I know at my uni (Hull) if you dont do a piece of coursework or get less than 40% you fail the module no matter what.

But i know you can resit/do things again over summer, but if your in your final year it doesnt apply, meaning you outright fail.

Best bet is to go into uni and find someone to talk to.

As Hudzy said, if that is your only fail this year (so long as it isn't your final year of uni) they should allow you to retake the failed module in the summer. As far as a I know most uni's have summer retakes except if you are a final year student.

Thanks guys. I'll head in and talk to them tomorrow, ask if they do resits etc.

I'm in my second year. Really wanted to go into a different Uni after completing this year, worried incase I've blew my chances.
