Have a new motherboard on the way Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 (from ocuk) to replace my asus p5b deluxe 775,i created a full backup img in windows 7 64bit is it possible to restore using this img then uninstall old chipset drivers then install new ones, or is a fresh install be the best way.

Fresh install is the best way, but you could try and it might boot - beyond that though you might experience some bugginess if it works at all.

The other option would be to generalise the install before you took an image of it, but if you've only got a few files and a few programs to stick on it would probably be less work to do a clean install.

I agree with the fresh install approach. Risking lots of niggly problems otherwise.

Given that a restore shouldn't take too long, why not give it a try and let us know what happens.
