If you bought a laptop from a retailer and something when wrong sometime within six months of having it-you would naturally take it back to the shop where they would organise a repair. If, on receiving the "repaired" laptop you found that the problem still occurred, would it be within your rights to demand your money back and repurchase a similar but better item elsewhere? Just curious as this is the situation regarding my nephew. Thanks :)

I actually sat through a Customers Rights lesson tonight at Stoke on Trent College.
Somebody asked a similar question and the answer was 'no'.
You are in your rights to ask for a repair.
If they can't repair it you are in your rights to demand a new one of the same model unless it doesn't exist anymore.
