Just because you have never come across such a problem, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. That also doesn't mean the guy is talking porkys.
I'm not saying he's 'telling porkys', but I think he is confused about what's happening. What is possible is it may have an issue with the DVD drive and it's struggling to read the game data. Halo 'streams' the data as you play (no loading screens), so if it's stuggling to read data it may be 'lagging' a bit as it waits to load the data. This isn't the same as 'running slow' in the way he's suggesting though.

Best bet as said before is to either get a repair and just keep the Xbox or sell the Xbox as second hand Brand new. ----> AS NEW (dont want any knickers in twists)
