Review of the new Sony DSLR...

If I were Nikon, I’d be having an urgent board meeting right about now.

That pretty much sums it up for me. Does anyone know if Sony are still going to povide Nikon with their sensors?

This is really naive but it doesn't look technologically advanced on appearance which could be a good thing but it doesn't look current to me. The grip looks quite nice on there. Not that I can afford it but it looks like a decent camera. :)

I Think it looks very good so far. The more competition we have in the DSLR market the better, means Nikon and Canon may have to drop their prices :)

I love sony as a brand. quality, easy to use and well built. so glad they have moved into the dslr market.

I'm a Canon man, but if Sony push the market forwards its got to be a good thing.

Unless Canon pull out of the D-SLR market (Highly unlikely) then I won't be switching systems.
Cameras come and go but investing so much in lenses means switching just isn't worth it.

Sony are a bit late to the party in some ways, but if they can make up some ground ,then that would be cool. :)

By buying the Konica Minolta camera division, they have a big head start, this A100 was really the KM engineers joint effort with Sony when they took over, and is defintitely more KM design then Sony.. It's backwards compatible with KM lenses which helps!

KM have always produced user-centric designed cameras, i.e. ones that are a real pleasure to use, with extra 'manual' dials instead of heavily overloaded buttons, and the Grip size is to ensure it's comfortable to hold.. they don't bow to fashion, although with Sony now in charge, I'd expect future models to look a bit swisher, as long as they don't mess with the KM ethos they'll be onto a winner.

I hope Sony ruffle the feathers of Nikon and Canon, it'll only benefit the consumer!

I just hope Sony dont start putting propietary software into photography. Any rubbish they dream up that limits what you can do with your images wont be welcome. At least for starters they've had the sense to use CF cards and not memory sticks only.

"you like paffett ? I LIKE paffett !"

:D

DR seems very poor. although on a very sunny day, I would have expected far more shadow detail...

lenses seem to produce sharp images, especially the 70-300 shot...

Not very impressed either! Will defo be sticking with my 30d now! Not that I was ever considering it.
