Good feeling to have all the glass in place again. As Lee mentioned the new heated screen was free, heres why.. http://passionford.com/forum/general-discussion/375721-result.html

ECU just arrived :DD:

projectrs500156.jpg

Was going Pectel T2 but I wanted more outputs and sequential spark, sadly I had already adapted the loom for T2 so have to start again

It's very flexible and can run wasted spark but I wanted individual coils (1 per cyl) and wanted to fire them sequentially. It also does ALS, Launch cont, and loads of other stuff..

Got most of the wiring done to the new ecu and alarm so it's time to get the dash back in. I have the original (un cracked) dash but have never liked the speaker grille in the middle so have opted for a 92 spec dash, I can always change back if I don't like the way it looks when finished.

The late dash has an alarm beacon on top, I removed the original LED and drilled it out a little larger and fitted the Clifford blue alarm LED instead, I bonded it inplace with clear silicon.

RS ecu cover now matched dash

I have painted the instrument surround in black (instead of the original met grey) and unsure of the look at the mo so may change it afterwards if it looks too much.

Later type steering column (adjustable) shroud with original lock barrel and later rounded stalks

Steerin wheel can go on soon

New ECU allows the use of individual plug top coils :-)

Got to the stage where the interior bits can start going in :DD:

Sound deadening is in ..

Note the later heater ducts that send air to the rear passengers.

Stripped and re built the intrument cluster as it was looking a little dirty..

ECU wiring almost done..

Late dash, late stalks, adjustable column with early clocks.

Headlining is done and in  and all the pillar plastics are fitted. Decided it's time to get the engine sorted, I had a bit of a major re-think on the spec and always wanted low down grunt but the new spec will have mucho more. Before the cam cover goes in to be refinished I needed to make the plug top coils fit...

projectrs500168.jpg

So I drilled and counter bored the cam cover and made up some threaded tubes, these are bolted and loctited from below and fixed at the top with M7 Vag bolts...

The coils are 5mm too long so that's the amount I chopped off the end..

Long and short...

Looking good ...

That's another job out of the way!

If it pops then I will do something about it (prob fit another std one!), there isn't a bolt in quiet option out there sadly. Bear in mind that this car is never going to be tracked and probably wont go past 5k rpm with the wife driving it!

I have changed my mind on crank stroke, it's surprising what you can get in there with a little thought

For now all I'm saying is that the stroke will be quite long, it wont want to rev super high but I'm not bothered about that in the slightest.

Trim is starting to go in :DD:

Why don't Cosworths have a cover over the 17mm seat belt bar bolt head?

Metros do and they fit a Sierra!
