Reyland Sierra RS500 restoration project

What a car, what a thread. :cool::cool::cool:

I'll watch this with great interest.

O/T: Ish, were you around Longton, Stoke-on-Trent Saturday? - I saw one of your cars well, it was certainly your "livery". :cool:

Not much to report, the 2.3 engine is in and I'm plumbing it all up.. Waiting for hoses and an intercooler at the moment. Should be running mid next week. Here's some pics to keep you going...

Engine built and ready..

As I'm using std Escos mounts I needed to stop the engine lifting in the event of the drivers side mount failing..

Std front diff casing drilled and re threaded to M8 (instead of M6) with strenghthening plate too..

Only using 4 injectors so I blanked the others off..

Bit more progress today, got all the rads in and was able to have the car running for ages whilst messing, its very quiet :DD:

As you know I have fitted aircon but finding somewhere for the aircon rad hasn't been easy, first off I thought I'd see what air temps I would get if I mounted it in front of the 60mm Pro Alloy intercooler but I just know I'd end up moving it afterwards.. So I thought I'd try it between the I/C and the cooling rad...

Will have it on the rollers during the week and map it upto 1 bar and then run it in on the road, hopefully get it MOT'd in the week too and then I can get the number plate transfered on and start getting some miles on her.

I don't think he made anything for it ..

Anyhow, I'm on with getting the aircon working at the moment. The dryer unit from a Sierra/Escort Cosworth is about 3" diameter and about 8" long, sadly I couldn't find anywhere to place it in the engine bay without cramming it in so I took a look at a std Sierra dryer which turned out to be 2" diameter but about 15" long... So I decided to go for that, half of it sits above the flitch the other half below.. I have ordered a new one, the item pictured is just for sizing up.. Just need to find someone to make up custom pipes now!

I'd been told that the Mk1 kick panels wouldn't work with the Mk2 dash... Whoever said that was wrong, they fit mint!
