It makes sense going backwards once you know the answer, but going forwards you are just guessing ... generally ding bats at least have some sort of clue in them (like jumbled up, etc)

Actually most of them are absolutely solid. We have a board game of them somewhere and most are impossible.

Well it's just an extension of the same principle used in the OP. I implied that was the case thus it was supposed to be easy... not really sure how your variation would make it harder either
