'ridiculous' for 'ridiculous' and 'then' instead of 'than' are very common mistakes on American boards. People just can't spell I suppose.

The absolute OcUK favourite and most used error is incorrectly using 'Women' for 'Woman' and the 'Of' for 'Have' Muppets.

And 'then' instead of 'than'. It's amazing how many poeple don't seem to know the difference between the two.

I think you're right, phonetic spelling has a lot to answer for or more accurately people not pronouncing words correctly has a lot to answer for.
