Probably best to wait a year then, I find that most MMOs have significantly more content after time, so start in a years time and there'll be a wodge of endgame content.
I've still not had one to give out yet !!
I played for the first free month after buying the game.
I hit lvl 50 in less than 2 weeks
The crafting system sucks and is currently worthless
The questing is repetitive and boring
The game badly lacks originality and rely on its Rift gimmick to much
Endgame is just a rep grind
Two good things I can say about this game is the launch they had was probably the smoothest in MMORPG history, and the spec/talent system is great.
All in all nothing new tbh

Whilst I agree with some of what you said, I think you are kinda missing the point of MMO's, they are ALL like that, and the Rift is hardly a gimmick, it is what the game is about. Tell me how many expert rifts did you do? how about raid rifts?
I mean assuming you are experienced in endgame content you will have done a lot of these right?

Rift is no worse or better than WoW, it is different, and as far as I can tell, any hotkey MMO is pretty much the same, even the good ones. Grind rep, grind instances, raid, yawn

Yep, as I say it doesnt bring anything new to the genre, I play just because I have fun which is all I ask. Been playing for a few weeks now and my highest character is level 25
IMO theres a great foundation to build upon here to make a very fun MMO, all that remains is to see if they can build upon it rather than sit back.

I'm also having a blast so far, highest is 29. I heard it gets worse post 40 ish due to the lack of content and grinding but until then I'll be enjoying it as much as I can and hopefully when I get there things will have improved a bit. Game is still new, can't expect everything as soon as it gets released. I'm mostly a PvP player, and honestly the one thing that really annoys me is how much CC there is available. I'm a MM/RS/Sin Rogue, and I had a fight with a Sin/NB/RS Rogue yesterday. Fight basically went like this:
He opens from Stealth with a 4s stun.
I blink away with Shadow Shift.
He blinks after me with Shadow Shift.
I use Repelling Shot to knock him away.
He uses Blinding Powder to daze me.
He re-opens with Maim to slow me down.
I use Blinding Powder on him.
Whilst he dazed I escape with On the Double and go Stealth.
End of fight.
It's somewhat annoying, because if I never escaped by going into Stealth we'd just renter the whole CC sequence as by that time Shadow Shift was coming off cooldown.
However, the game is still good and keeping on track with the topic I'd urge people who are 50/50 about trying it to just grab a key and give it a go to see it for yourself. It's not going to cost you anything to play 6 days and you can at least try to have some fun in the process. If you don't like it at the end, so be it, at least you gave it a go and saw it first hand and made up your own opinion about it. If you do like it then theirs the option of buying it for another 30 days. Also, stay off the official forums

I agree rift is no worse or better than wow and has great foundations. But if people want originality they wont get it from rift. The game has great foundations. The raids are good and fun but main problem I have with endgame it is nothing new.
I just wish a big MMORPG developer would break the mold and try something new. I have been playing MMORPGs for over 10 years now it maybe just me being bored of the same old stuff.
As for experienced in endgame content, the game has not been out long enough for anyone to be truly experienced. The raids I did experience ware fun but the game as a whole was not fun enough to keep me playing.
But if people are looking for a refreshing MMORPG rift could be for you as long as long as you are not burnt out on MMORPGS.

Its that really. I've been playing MMOs for 15 years and its been a quite frustrating experience ever since 2004 to find an MMO which recaptures the glory days (pre 2004) of MMOs for me. Its taken a while but I have now come to terms with the understanding that I will never again get an MMO which is on a par with those early MMOs so I have lowered my bar of expectations and simply now look for an MMO which I can relax and have a laugh in, currently Rift is fulfilling that and has promise of continuing to do so for quite some time providing the devs continue to build.
That will suffice until such time as Garriott, Koster or Frior return and develop something more in tune with the early MMOs. I hear rumour that Frior has one under development so I am curious to see what he comes up with.

I'm level 30 and so far am enjoying it, its different enough for me at least. Rifts and invasions break up questing a little, as does hunting for artifacts and crafting nodes. Warfronts (battle grounds) I actually enjoy for once in an MMO. Looking forward to some world PvP too.
I think the Devs are trying to do something different with a tried and proven game model. Its not so inovative as say UO, nor has the in game community that SWG [had] and EVE have.
Crafting i'd like a lot more complex like SWG or Fallen earth, but hey.....
For now I think its doing alright!

I've used your code, it worked for me...I only just saw this post a second ago and didnt think it would work because I thought someone else would have used the code already and maybe it would only allow one person to use it, but it worked for me.
For anyone reading this thread just try all the codes, see if they work for you, only takes a second on the website. Just create an account and go to account management and click Apply Code button.
Thanks I really wanted to try this game, already had it installed in anticipation for trial accounts being available, didn't think I'd get to try it this soon thought! woohoo! I'll post back after I've played a few hours.
EDIT: I've logged into the launcher but it says it needs to apply update, it's downloading really really fast though! It's downloading at almost my full speed, 30Mbs/3.7Mbs...it says it's going to download 8.60GB in 39mins, can't complain with that.
EDIT: I just tried logging in but it said you are not authorised to play this game: and then I found this on the Trion:Rift website:
