His sitcoms with David Croft were favourites in our house when I was a kid. It Ain't Half Hot Mum was great - "Land of Hope and Glory, Mother of the Free....SHUT UP!!!"

Indeed, IMHO Sergeant Major Williams is up there with Basil Fawlty and Blackadder as one of the greatest comedy characters ever created - "Mr La-di-da Gunner Graham ..."
