I was on my way to work this morning and I remember reducing my speed, next thing you know.... I do a couple of 360's on the carriageway and go straight into a lamp post. car's a write-off :-( Couple of witnesses said that it looked like I skidded over some black ice. was taken to hospital and have head injuries, out now but this is a fun Xmas so far :-\ Loved driving. it cost 250 quid to get it towed and 60 to get it scrapped. That's ate all my beer money and I'm skint now cos I'll have to get the bus and train into work nxt month. Hope you all have a better Xmas than me mate lol.

27th December edit:

okay guys, need a bit of advice:

The car is a write-off and it cost me £1050 three months ago. I have insurance and that costs me £120/month. I was planning on getting the car scrapped and not claiming on my insurance, I would then just cancel the insurance but I'm not sure.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

OcUK motors fail..

You need pics of epic accident, otherwise we are unable to specualte about the circumstances of the incident, and diss your driving ability!

Bad luck! Chin up, your alive, cars can be replaced :D

Why does everyone always say their car has been written off, despite the fact it blatently hasnt?

If you had to pay for the recovery of the vehicle and for it scrapping, I would assume you are not going through your insurance? Is so, be prepared for the bill from the council to pay for a new lamp post!

I know this isn't going to help but...

PAYING for a car to be scrapped? You do know with a bit of ringing around you'd have almost certainly have found somebody who would have collected the car FOR FREE and more than likely have given you a couple of quid for it.

oh and also, I was still groggy when the police asked if I wanted them to arrange for it to be towed. If I was thinking clearly, I would have organised it myself.

Not necessarily true. Lost the back end in my car (never paying for tyres without knowing what they are ever again!) and hit a lamp-post. Called the police as i was blocking one lane of Scotswood Bridge (locals will know it) and the council never said a thing. They've inspected it as it now has cable ties round it and has done for a while. Damn strong things those lampposts haha!

Friend got hit with a bill of about £500 to re do a bollard he took with him. Thankfully he went through insurance and the insurance agreed to pick up his car the day after, he had it towed to his dads garage and they didn't pick it up for 3 weeks. Cue dad charging £75 per day storage to the insurance company to compensate for the silly low offer they made.

How careless of you. You clearly needed the skills of that OCUK Motors guy who said he could a handle a car in any conditions, defy the laws of physics and implied that he could see black ice with his X-ray vision.

Only Fox has such skillz

Really? Care to suggest where I've ever claimed to be anything other than an average driver when it comes to car control?

Or is this yet another mystery bandwagon?

I'm quite happy to get a 'reputation' for things I've actually said but kindly don't perpetuate myths and lies.

It should be a pretty well known fact that unlike quite a lot of people on here I don't think I'm the next Petter Solberg.
