RIP my first car (2001 Renault Megane Coupé 1.6)

Because he didn't bother to look around and went with the first person/company he came across to dispose of the car.

it's not that I couldn't be 'bothered' but when I came to after being unconscious, the police asked about getting it towed. I'm not getting to scrapped until next week. Get it right and don't be so rude.

Whoa hang on a minute:

You said in your first post it "Cost" you 60 quid to get it scrapped. I took cost to mean past tense, ie you didn't bother to ask around and got ripped off by someone. If you haven't scrapped it yet then said someone hasn't ripped you off and you now know better than to pay someone to scrap it.

I didn't mean to seem rude (Or believe that anything i've said is rude) but it really knarks me that there are people/companies that prey on people who, just like you said you did initially, agree to pay them quite a lot of money while in a state of relative shock or concussion.

Towing you have to take on the chin, but you can actually get quite a lot of money for scrap, the CAT can be worth over £100 by itself (Not on a megane, but certainly over £50), the car at least £75. I bought a Volvo 850 for parts two years ago for £150, had all i wanted and scrapped it for £175.

So you can now maybe see why people paying to dispose of cars annoys me :)

I hope you haven't paid for disposal, hopefully at least the scrap value can go towards a replacement car. Bad luck on the accident, but at least you are OK.

sorry, my mistake. I rang up to get a quote and they said 60 quid and they will be towing it on Wednesday when I finalise things. Sorry again mate, been a rough day and I'm not in the mood as my head is banging. Merry Christmas :)

Not necessarily true. Lost the back end in my car (never paying for tyres without knowing what they are ever again!) and hit a lamp-post. Called the police as i was blocking one lane of Scotswood Bridge (locals will know it) and the council never said a thing. They've inspected it as it now has cable ties round it and has done for a while. Damn strong things those lampposts haha!

Ill have to keep a lookout for said lampost next time I go over it.

Id be interested to know how you crashed on the actual bridge though. I would expect people to lose it either on the right hander getting on the bridge coming from the Metro Centre, or on left hander coming off it heading towards B&Q, both from speeding.

Personally the left hander on the exit towards B&Q caught me out a few times when I first started driving.

Sorry to hear about your accident. I crashed mine back in January but thankfully it was just cosmetic damage and I could still drive it.

You'll get something else soon enough and forget about the Megane
