Sad day today due to the death of Richard Todd.
A hero, both off screen and on. Forever remembered for his leading role in the Dambusters, and perhaps more fittingly The Longest Day.
Richard Todd served in the parachute infantry of the British 6th Airbourne and landed in the early hours of D-Day to the East of Pegasus Bridge and later fought with Major Howard in defense of the bridge.
Richard Todd used to go back every year to visit the bridge site and the Pegasus Bridge museum of which I was lucky enough to meet him.
RIP Richard Todd 1919 - 2009.
