Ripping/playing MP3s

I use EAC to rip to FLAC but I know it works admirably with the LAME dll/exe (I forget which). EAC holds advantage over many rippers in that it has 'secure rip' support, I had issues with certain other software ripping the next second of some songs into my current one until someone here pointed me towards EAC, haven't had that issue since (or any for that matter)! It doesn't rip to MP3 out the box but when set up properly it works like a dream.

For playback if I'm at the PC I use foobar2000 which looks bland until you throw in Columns UI. If I'm not sitting at the PC I use XBMC as it's the best media centre I've found.

i wouldn't use anything to rip unless it has accuraterip support. that's EAC, foobar2000 and dbpoweramp that i know of. there might be more.

@Auraomega, because EAC has accuraterip support, you should try burst mode instead. you'll find it's far quicker. if it matches the accuraterip database, job done. if not, then you can resort to using secure mode.

and for playback, foobar2000 > *. :D

CD > iTunes > Apple Lossless > iPod Classic

Did try that but for some weird reason In Silico (Pendulum) came out like it was coming from the worlds worst gramaphone so use dbpoweramp for ripping. Not sure on player yet. Any suggestions?
