SO Rise of the Tomb Raider coming to PC in early 2016

Square Enix confirms one year timed exclusivity on console

Rise of the Tomb Raider will launch for PC (Windows 10) via Steam in early 2016 and for PlayStation 4 in holiday 2016, Square Enix announced.

The game will premiere first for Xbox One and Xbox 360 on November 10, this year. The PlayStation 4 version will arrive one year after its initial launch.

Anyone else looking forward to this :D

Yup, looking forward to this also.

The first one was amazing, intense and very pretty, loved it!!!

I'm not buying it in protest, not going to support any kind of exclusivity deal. They sell out then i'm not buying it. Shameful of them really, Tomb Raider has always been multi-platform with NO EXCLUSIVITY DEALS. Shame as i really enjoyed Tomb Raider 2013. No ****ing deal with Square Enix is going to make anyone buy your crappy console! About time MS get that into their thick skulls.

I will most likely buy this when it comes to the PC as the first one is pretty good. I do think its a strange one from Microsoft to try and use this game to sell their console as I dont see it as a console selling game at all.

Microsoft are the publishers too and not Square Enix for the Xbox versions, I think the rumor was that had Microsoft not given the devs a large wad of cash, there would have been a high probability that we wouldn't see this game. I think I recall Square Enix moaning about being disappointed on the sales at release, which I think was in the region of around 3 million, though it has now gone on to sell around 8.5 million and make profit.

Only early 2016 because its also going to be sold on the Win 10 game store apparently

PS4 owners have to wait until end of 2016!

I enjoyed Tomb Raider but they really annoyed me with this oh it sold well on PC but lets make it exclusive.

Will be one for under £5 on the key sites for me now.

I just finished Tomb Raider this morning as part of my Operation: Backlog so now I'm excited for this one!

I don't really care about the exclusivity deal. Microsoft wrote a big cheque to SE, which will hopefully reflect in the quality of the game. The PS4 version will have plenty of time to be de bugged etc too!

Not really a fan of these exclusivity deals but I don't blame either party for their role in it. Money talks.

The first one didn't really have the same affect on me as it seemed to be everyone else - but I'll keep my eye on this and see how it turns out. No doubt I'll end up buying it though!

there were exclusivity deals with a few of them on playstation as far as I remember.
Yes they did come out on pc but I think it was after the playstation releases if I remember correctly. I could be wrong though.

Theres no point in it being a xbox one timed exclusive especially now that uncharted 4 has been delayed till next year.

Hopefully with it being released later it should be well optimised on the pc and tbh most square games that have come out on the pc have run really well.

I really liked the first one, but not really happy about this deal that they have going. Won't be buying at release anyways

The 1996 original was my first PC game as a kid and also my all time favourite.

Due to my technical ignorance at the time I ended up playing the whole thing through with no sound or FMVs working!

Not happy to hear this new one locked for a whole year. For shame.

The 1st one was OK but the volume QTE and cutscenes annoyed me massively. I can kinda accept cutscenes to a certain degree but they were too frequent for me and just got in the way, however the QTE are just pointless and have added nothing to any game ever.

While not feeling as strong as some I do agree that taking a multi plat and making it exclusive for any period is wrong and considering how Crystal dynamics were bitching about low sales of TR 2013 for them to limit TR 2015 sales like this is laughable.

I will buy it but I'll play it on someone's X1 and wait until it's in a sale on Steam before buying for myself now, If I could have bought PC straight away I would off but that's there loss, Hopefully they'll learn a lesson from it this time.

Cant wait for Tomb Raider 2016.
Loved the 2013 reboot, and most aspects about it, so excited for the new one, especially as it will release on the PC.

I have sneaky feeling, they will also make this Windows 10 exclusive and DX12..
But in time we will know.

SO much this. They really are just completely pointless, and to me a massive two fingers to what the original games were about. It was possible to become suddenly very, very stuck in the originals when a puzzle seemed unsolvable. Managing to work it out - after previously being clueless - was stupendously satisfying, something I don't think they've managed to replicate in the latest ones. They were masterpieces of design, and if you didn't really think about things you would just be stuck and that was that. In the new one, it couldn't be more different. The complete opposite of what the originals did, would be to put instructions on screen as to what to do to overcome a particular scenario. QTEs are exactly this. Makes me a sad panda. It really just does seem like it's set piece after set piece after set piece. Hell, you're forced to pretend you're controlling Lara at some points. The radio tower for example, where she's climbing the ladder. She won't move up unless you press up, but that's all you can do. You can't make her move down or jump off... so what's the point?! Makes me rage, and also makes me disappointed that they had to do this to appeal to what I assume must be the expectations of a modern gamer.

Inb4 "yeah this tomb raider is different doe" - yeah I get that. I just think it's a shame some of the heart of the originals is lost.
