It was possible to become suddenly very, very stuck in the originals when a puzzle seemed unsolvable. Managing to work it out - after previously being clueless - was stupendously satisfying, something I don't think they've managed to replicate in the latest ones. They were masterpieces of design, and if you didn't really think about things you would just be stuck and that was that.
Inb4 "yeah this tomb raider is different doe" - yeah I get that. I just think it's a shame some of the heart of the originals is lost.
The new TR game I didn't even need to look at a walkthrough. IIRC it even highlights where you need to jump or puzzle pieces that need to be interacted with.

Only early 2016 because its also going to be sold on the Win 10 game store apparently![]()
Nope its on Steam & Win 10 store at the same time but I think it maybe DX12 only which = Win 10 exclusiveSo is this going to be another can't buy it on steam situation...

No reason of course for that unless MS are helping on the port (unlikely) but Gears Of War is also Win 10 only so is the new Fable game so perhaps this is MS strategy hold back DX12 for Win 10 only as they do not plan to backport to Win 7/8!
I suspect this will launch on Win 10 only then when sales are poor it will by a miracle of computer PC porting science become available on Win7/8![]()
Thanks, good news about steam.
Is Win 10 only a terrible thing? I get that maybe people don't want to be forced onto that platform, but with it being free and assuming there aren't big problems I've not heard about then is there any reason not to upgrade?
Outside of open world RPGs no game needs a walkthrough, and even then you're just spoiling it for yourself.
My point was that older games were a lot harder as they dont hold your hand and highlight where to jump or give tips if you can't figure it out in 20 seconds. When I played puzzle/adventure games as a kid like TR and Broken Sword i'd sometimes be stuck on a certain part for hours or even days. Which as Zefan said gives you a massive sense of achievement when you finally figure it out. You don't get that in modern games when the ledge you need to jump to starts flashing orange etc.
Unless it was actually a clever puzzle I've never got a sense of achievement from figuring out some random/obscure action, sequence, etc. needed to progress in a game - usually just give up on a game if I'm spending hours on the same section over and over by trial and error with no real clues to work off.
Enjoyed TR2013 so will most likely pick this up on PC. The QTEs were annoying, that parachute bit through forest took me about 30 attempts for some reason.
I do miss the originals though, TR1 was my first PS1 game and what a game it was.
