Depends what you mean by 'Cross Country'?
It would be fine for exploring canal paths, forest paths, blue/green routes at trail centres and things like that.
It would be a struggle to try and do a cross country race on it though.

I don't race, I certainly wouldn't want to race off road :)

thanks for the info, sounds pretty good, would I be able to use it for say going through my local woods?

Nearly finished moving into new place, picked my R5 up from storage today, hasn't been ridden for 3 weeks :( It's taking prime place right now :)

Anyone else here doing the ride London 100? I'm guessing I'm not the only one

I've no idea how I'm going to get there or back - I'm out in west London and need to get to the Olympic park for 6.50, so no idea how that's going to work on a Sunday morning. Looks like quite a trek on the bike as well!

hey guys

Going back to me getting a CX bike

been speaking (or rather emailing) a guy at where I got my bike from (I had a bike fit from them) asked them if they still had my details and could they recommend me a CX bike

The said to get a Specialized Crux, but when I then mentioned I need mud guard mounts they said they don't have them, so they are now saying this -

No mudguard mounts.
This has them http://www.sigmasport.co.uk/item/Specialized/Secteur-Sport-Disc-Compact-Road-Bike-2013/1HVP and disc brakes. It also has clearance for knobbly tyres. Would make a great winter bike and can do some off road too.

So what do you think ? im a bitt confused as to why it can take nobly tyres when its a roadie?

I've got a specialized Crux Elite and it was a bit hard to get mudguards for. The Tricross is the non-race version of the Crux and does have mudguard mounts.

been looking at the Tricross (some on the bay which went over my price)

ben thinking either the Tricross or Sectur

bike stand is only £30 , tempted at that, being as bike stands seem to go for approx. £100?

I paid £40 for one that looks very similar to that, and mine is OK. I reckon it'd be alright.

I'd be wary of the track pump. I got one from Lidl last time round and it died within a week. Complete waste of money.

Hi lads i got some advice for a first road bike a few months ago and im ready to get one but problem is the Btwin Triban 3 has been out of stock for ages. Any idea what is going on with it?

Also there is a local bike store with a Giant Defy 1 that looks really nice but a lot more than I was planning to spend. It worth the extra to a novice?

Whereabouts are you? Have you called your local decathlon? I was in the Warrington store yesterday and they had plenty of the red triban 3s in store.

A defy 1 is quite a big step up from the triban 3. It's a good bike and it could be a good buy, but you'd have to be that bit surer that you were going to get your money's worth.

3 weeks into a bruised coccyx from a high speed, huge pot-hole / my arse collision. Sitting is a pain in the, well, arse which doesnt help when driving a desk all day. Sleeping is not much better, due to the throbbing dull ache.

Be careful out there kids, the pot hole monsters are everywhere...

Apparently I'm not particularly delicate when negotiating potholes. So I've been told by people I ride with anyway.

From what I've seen you mostly bunny hop them or swerve at the last moment!
