Road Cycling

It might sound stupid but give this place a go http://www.physioclinic.net .

Promotes bone growth a few of my motorbike friends have used it with very very positive results. Only reason I didn't use them when I broke my leg was because I physically couldn't get there.

Thanks for that. Bit far for me but I could look at a more local place :)

I did briefly read about standing on a rumble strip for 20 mins per day to encourage growth/speed recovery. Need to read more to find out if that is rubbish or not :)

Do you have an indoor trainer? Don't need 2 hands for that one :D

Yup. Will rest this week I think but will start to look into it next week :)

How has your bike fared?

Just submitted insurance claim. Bike + bits came to 1.5k but not sure they'll go for the full amount. Lots of bike is okay but fudged left shifter, front wheel, gabba 2, helmet, bibs, frame dubious from speed of crash and other misc bits. Can't ride it anytime soon whatever happens I guess.

It is time sensitive though , I think for best results you need to be there within a week. He uses magnets all very clever stuff, surgeon when I asked him about it was very positive about it although I had to bring up with him.

I hope my experience of this sort of thing is not the norm but if it was be prepared to fight for your claim. Mine took several emails and phones calls to get my claim settled to my satisfaction. Only tip I can give from revocering broken bones is listen to your body, they are clever and adoptable little things even if in this day and age people try to tell you different. All the be with the recovery. :)

Which insurance co was that?

omg, why isn't this healed yet?

In better news, did a little window shopping last night just in case insurance pays out the full amount. Anyone aware of anything like the PX Bish Bash Bosh frame but less hideos looking?

Definitely true about other bits of damage. Feel like an old man :/

If I get enough of a payout I'll prob build a bike with:

* carbon frame
* discs
* thru-axle
* muduard mounts
* di2

Some of that will come over from my old bike and I'll supplement too ofc.

I'll get physio sorted but it's not like I need my bike to be sorted asap or that the insurance is for physio so I'm not sure why I'd rush out to buy lower-spec'd components...

The stuff left over from the current build that still works will prob go on to my old Cotic for a CX build.

Fun times on the ride in. Some stupid woman drove into the back of me as I was waiting to join a roundabout. I gave her a good yelling at (you've got eyes in your ****** head, ****** use them, etc etc) and made a note of her number plate. I don't think there's any harm done - I was stood over the bike with my brakes on, so I just got nudged. The rear mudguard took the brunt of it and my ass got a knock from the saddle. Good job the saddle wasn't a bit lower or I'd have had a bit of close encounter.

Worth reporting to local police, or am I more likely to end up getting gripped for not having pedal reflectors?

From the sounds of it I'd say no tbh. If you;re sure you're fine and she didn't react like an arse.

I can understand it more in A&E tbh. This is an appointment-only clinic though...

2 hours late I had a very quick xray and chat to be informed that they aren't sure if I need surgery, sigh. Going to visit MRI A&E at 6am tomorrow morning to register their and get my xrays looked at by an upper limb specialist.

Guy at work did LEJOG too. Looks like the weather was pretty great and he had barely cycled before it... maybe about 10 minor rides after getting a road bike earlier in the year.

It would be nice to give it a go at some point but the entry fee is pretty high really. I'm tempted by something like London to Paris in 24 hours.

I might do that next year. Can't be any more hideous than the Newcastle > London ride was...
