Road Cycling

I've ordered the trade team got one last year but sent it back and they didn't have any in my size left. That's 3 orders from the sales....Will review the bits I keep once I decide.

Had the taster session at Manchester Velodrome this afternoon. Really enjoyed it and didn't expect to be on the track so much with it being a taster. A 5 minute intro to basic rules and fixed wheels, couple of laps to sort of get to know and then 'ok, free ride for the rest of the session'.

Boy is that bank steep but as soon as you've got a good amount of momentum it doesn't feel unstable at all :)

Spent today doing odd jobs, tidied out the garage and moved my trainer setup around in there.

Tweaked the TT setup from yday, wider pads, stem up 5mm. Slight FD adjustment and rear brake cable outer lengthened. Cut 15mm off the steerer, standard Cervelo coming with a comedy amount of length.

Setup the TT in the trainer, little worried as my mate bent the bolts that adjust the rear wheel in the drop outs using his on the trainer.....

Fantastic job FT, you must be knackered. Probably having a well deserved rest and then eating everything in sight. :D

I'm aiming to get out this evening, but with the nights drawing in its not so tempting :( I decided against going this morning as it was due to rain and then be fine tonight. Naturally that has now changed so it got all the rain out of the way last night and pulled tonight's rain forward into the evening. Fffffuuuuuuu...

Anyone else just cannot be bothered to ride their bike this weekend? Managed 10 miles so far, with 3 sprints.

This was me last week, reckon I had a bug in the end. Weather probably not helping. You're going to get them every now and then. I usually do around this time of year as the realisation the rubbish weather is on its way (here already)

Same here. I think the wind has been pretty demotivating really... went out for 28 miles yesterday but the slog into the wind was tough especially as I knew that section is normally faster so pushed it a bit more than I usually would :D

Waiting for Amazon to hurry up and deliver this workstand then I'll do a bit of tweaking + chain change.

Visited a friend in Manchester this weekend. 5 & 1/2 hour journey there on Friday afternoon  and 2 & 1/2 back today which was much better :)

Consulted FT's local expertise + the climbs I fancied and threw together Brickworks, Pyms Chair & Col Du Mellor. I actually dropped my rain cape without realising as some point (it was definitely needed at points!). Serves me right for not wanting to stop on a segment and overfilling a jersey pocket stuffing it in. So decided to cut short an miss Col Du Mellor because all I had was arm warmers, summer jersey & shoe covers and plan to ride this week so didn't want to get ill :p

Thought I saw some blue sky whilst parking up at Poynton. Nope. Definitely wrong. Bucketed it down as I set off.

Didn't feel like a particularly focused ride due to not knowing the roads or profile particularly well. Also felt pretty bent out of shape since Friday though ate well on Saturday which helped me up Pyms.

I couldn't actually see much through the rain, mist & fog but when it's not horrible weather wise I can imagine those parts being quite spectaular

Looks like I could have gone quite a bit harder up Pyms based on being 15-20 beats of max so was a little too reserved it seems based on that metric.

If these work:

Must say due to the nature of some of the stuff in the Chilterns I felt fairly comfortable on it though with so many rolling hills surrounding you I found it near impossible to gauge the gradient! Sitting down to alternate on bits I thought flattened... but nope Wahoo still saying 18% :p Power PR's at least :)

Followed a few guys down Brickworks which was less sketchy a descent than the otherside of Pyms, in the wet on deep section rims with carbon track & pads and relatively new tyres  . Though still threw my toolkit out the saddle mount, which then split open, which I had to go back at pick up :o They turned off right up a very shallow bank which one of them low sided on :( had scrubbed quite a bit of speed before but just shows how slippery & wet it was today.

Will pop back soon when the suns out I think!
