I've been after a new mousepad with wrist support for 6 months now. I class myself as an enthusiast gamer where I've paid £80 for G15 keyboard and £30 for G5 laser mouse; paying more for a mousepad than my mouse seems odd to me but I do realise that these types of pads do last for years. This pad has 2 unique surfaces with choices of either normal movement of your mouse or the other side for using your gaming mouse with a high DPI setting whilst maintaining accuracy.

Ocuk should state the size as I didn't know until I checked myself. Size is 331mm x 272mm and depth of 3mm. More info here - http://www.roccat.org/Products/Gaming-Mousepads/ROCCAT-Alumic

Umm wouldn't this just wear down the mouse feet like super fast!

Am I missing something, why would it wear down the mouse feet?

jorzeh, its the middle that is aluminium, not the actual surface.

I've pre-ordered mine - got it cheaper elsewhere - delivery should be Monday/Tuesday and will post a quick review on how great I expect it should be.

RIGHT!

Opened one of these bad boys up to discover the Roccat goodness. First impressions through packaging it seems very similar to its Razer competitor the Vespula. With a twist the Alumic (ALU) is made from "Anodized aluminium core" bringing a good strength and forever lasting pad.

The pad is supplied with a gel wrist pad - sticky rubber bottom means a complete non-slip pad. Its a solid padding which will always keep form without inflicting a problem with in game performance.

The pad being double sided for speed and control have two slightly different surfaces - one much better looking than the other. Clue is in the title for speed or control. Each surface has either a great or less friction to them depending on your playing style.

After testing the pad with 2 different games the pad performed to a good standard. The wrist pad for me is very new and I personally could not get used to it however I should because my hands start to ache and i get table rub :D. Its a good size for high sense and low sense players which include rubber feet for non slip of the pad. I played a quick high FPS ( Quake 3 ) which I tested the speed side. The lesser friction of speed helps for the high speed game but I did test with the control side which didn't have much difference but you can tell from the surfaces.

The pictures really do not do it justice, as the mouse mat looks stunning, the image is striking and reflective when you see it in person and the mat looks special, we have one of these on display in our shop and customers really notice the image and it looks very nice and is attractive. :)

That is just the looks, but the pad is very hard-waring, the wrist rest is heavy and has good grip which is nice as it does not move around when using your mouse on the pad and is extremely comfortable.
