Did any of you watch Rogue Traders last night? I don't normally start threads complaining about this and that but felt compelled to about this.

Ok, it's a good program (in principal). I like watching the stories about the dodgy companies etc... What really grinds my gears about this show is the main presenter’s sidekick who has to act retarded and even puts on a 'dumb, slow voice'. Was watching this last night and it was really bugging me and not to mention all the lame jokes that are in this show.

Anyone else find this annoying and feel like they are kind of ruining a perfectly good show with their attempts at humour which fail epically and just make watching the show embarrassing?

Or is it just me?! :D

Seems to be a trend with the beeb. DIY SOS is another culprit, half the show these days seems to be taken up with their 'comedy' sketches.
*Cough cough* OF course I don't watch it myself but I do happen to catch it occcasionally when the wife's watching it...

This annoys me greatly too, i really do not see what the second presenter being dumb like this is trying to achieve. :(

It would be fearsome program giving scammers sleepless nights if it was done seriously rather than bike traveling pub sketch show with wigs and inappropriate props all over the place. Alasdair Jeffrey's Bull***t Detective (actual title) was getting close to being good replacement - although set on the whole market of parapractitioners and crooks rather than dishonest traders, but unfortunately it looks like Alasdair might have borrowed idea from Pen & Teller's Bull***t (actual title as well) without much of a license and program never returned to air.

There was a brilliant show a while back where they go people back for commiting crimes. On one of them they left a lorry with loads of electronics open. Some idiot decides to go stealing and when he gets in there the door closes behind him and the sides of the lorry fall away to show just bars and then they parade the criminal around inside the cage. Classic.

You didn't happen to watch family guy afterwards did you by any chance? =)

You got me with that one. As I was watching it, thought to myself that I dont say 'Grinds my gears enough' so thought id start off here :]

I remember that programme, I always wondered how real it was because surely most of the setups were entrapment followed by kidnap.

I presume that some bright spark at the Beeb has worked out that you can cut product costs by having the cast make wise cracks for a third of the show rather than actually doing something constructive. Very annoying indeed.

I don't have too much of a problem with their occasional (ok more than occasional) attempts at humor.
What I do really like is first of all the dancing old ladies,
second trying to pinpoint the exact point the ball drops and face with it,
and third the main presenters conduct when approaching the trader; I know sometimes it can seem a bit aggressive and pushy but he always pushes a good argument makes sure he knows his facts and will listen to the other side of the story if they stick around that long!

Was it this show that did the computer repairman section?

I think the majority of today's TV (especially the dramas) is poor.

Totally agree with the op,

The idea of the show, to find and investigate Rouge Traders, is pretty good but the execution is awful. I'm totally confused about the presenters 'side-kick', it has no relevance on the show at all and the acting is not good.

On the whole it is good - but they did an episode a while back on TV aerial contractors and as my dad runs his own business as a TV aerial contractor he made a point of watching it - never have I seen so many mistake by the experts! My Dad was so annoyed as if anyone had seen that they would believe the TV over him.

Expert - "Nah, Trees won't effect your TV signal if they are in the path between your aerial and the transmitter he is just cheating you out of money for a higher pole for the aerial".

NO - THAT ONE IS TRUE! GAH!

Such a shame - I do like seeing cowboys get there comeuppance but that episode annoyed me and my Dad.

I actually think that the way they do it definitely works. It must be even worse as someone getting caught in the act, knowing that they've probably had the **** ripped out of them by those two playing dumb and it also acts as a bit of light hearted entertainment along the way. It probably attracts a much larger audience because of it.

you have to laugh at some of the jokes but most are stupid like homer simpson actions.

maybe if we all complained about the bbc giving people from portugal a bad image they would listen.

bbc usually give in to racism complaints stupidly easily.

btw did anyone see the tree one the other week lol? i'm suprised they watched those clowns almost killing themselfs for so long

The presenter said he was actually worried for their safety... I think it would have deserved them right :)
