Rolls Royce....too much?

What are you insinuating MrLOL? I don't follow....

Having someone else pose as the main driver for a car which you primarily drive in order to obtain cheaper insurance is illegals, also known as 'fronting'. It is fairly common amongst the young, however in the event of **** going down, if the insurance clock on you can wave beddy-byes to your Roller or any money.

Ah come on guys, don't be like that, ha. We'd both be driving it, me a little more though I'm guessing. Is the only way to get insured if you're a kid. My Fiesta on my own policy would be about 3300 quid, a stunning amount. Is the bottom of the ladder, and isn't very respectable I understand, but I've got to get to work somehow. The one I was talking about is a bit fatty inside, and the leather could do with some re conditioning, and a few little other things to make it reasonably presentable. I know it'll never be perfect by a long shot, but I would be happy with that for the moment.

Chris.

It's not the only way at all and it will only be 3300 if you don't bother with the legwork and just use comparison sites. If you can't afford to do it legally, don't do it - walk, cycle, bus, train, helicopter, whatever

You do realise that admitting to something like that on the forum isn't wise? Insurers would do anything to avoid a pay out, especially if you've posted it on the 'net.

Is this thread for a real? Some kid wants to insure a Rolls Royce under his Mums name, purchased for £4k, and run it on LPG?

Just what?

I'm guessing they'd assume the 70s Roller is my Mum's, since a good 98 percent of "yoofs" are whizzing around in Fiesta's and Corsa's. I didn't bother getting a quote for a 6.7 V8 in my name. confused.com would spit at me I reckon.

Insurance aside, it will break down,if its a bit tatty i GUARANTEE it hasnt been maintained and you will get bills for repairs in the thousands. Once hydraulic contamination and leaks set in (which they will) its Surrey all out.

I also guarantee under that fresh coat of paint the scuttle and sills / door bottoms/ boot are rotten.

Ever MOT will be a painful costly experience.

Just forget it, suffer the Ford for a few years till you get a few quid behind you.

Doesn't matter what they assume - if you're using it more than her but you're insuring it otherwise then it's illegal, end of story.

Of course confused.com will give you crap quotes, on anything. Classic car policies are very favourable if you can get one at your age, otherwise there are plenty of specialist insurers for young people.

I'll keep reiterating it though - driving is a privilege, not a right. If you can't afford it, don't do it. The reason policies are so expensive is the amount if fraudulent policies like yours as well as all the personal injury claims going on.

Imsurance aside, you just can't do these on the cheap

'Tis just a nice thought for me guys, I always knew it would have serious conns. I'll stick with a cheaper classic like the MGB for the time being think. Either way, Dad's letting me pay him off in installments for whatever car it may be.

Well he wont thank you for buying that Rolls thats for sure ;)

Good idea. There's a great deal of enthusiasts and owners clubs for those and parts aren't going to cost a huge amount. They don't appear to be the most complicated cars to tinker with either?
