Can't seem to get this to work. It crashes when it tries to play the game intro video.

Anyone know why this is?

I am updated to the latest patch and I have tried compatibility mode - no luck.

Thing is - I swear I had this working on vista 64 bits before, but it just doesn't seem to want to work.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I can only recommend the standard things, try new drivers, reinstall & update the game, run as admin, etc... Perhaps it tries to play the vids in a res your screen doesn't support or somethings gone wrong with the codec needed to play it ( bink iirc?)

I have found no problems in either versions of vista with my Rome: TW gold edition install, worked in vista x64 without any workarounds...

Hmmm it says fmv ''M:\games\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\fmv'' but it's actually a wmv file the intro...

I'm not exactly sure how to update the codec or whatever on wmv files, you could try however moving the contents of the folder ''The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\fmv'' to ''The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\fmv\backup1\'' so it can't find the video files any more and hopefully skips them, I've had to do this on a game called cossacks a while ago as it used to crash on the films and it worked.

Problem is...some of the videos are used for the main menu etc...
