Ive got a netgear DG834N router but it seems to be on its last legs as it now crashes a fair few times a day. I've had it quite a while now and I think its out of warranty so im looking at possibly getting another router.
I need 2 PC's linking together, a network harddrive connecting to it which acts as a print server and then a laptop able to wirelessly connect to it. Currently my PC is connected via ethernet, including the hdd but my parents PC has an absolutely dire netgear G network card (PCI) which simply refuses to keep connected to the network. This computer is 2 rooms away in a 3 story house so shouldnt have a problem connecting, especially when my macbook can connect at full signal strength 2 floors below the router!
I'd prefer to put the router downstairs at the main telephone socket to give me a better download rate but then that means getting 2 VERY RELIABLE and quality wireless cards to go with my new router.
Basically I need speccing 2 very good network cards (N pref) and a good N router, also pref as cheap as possible!
I've had a look at the powerline stuff but is it actually worth doing? I play games on my PC and would like a half decent ping and I'm not going to get that by the sounds of the technology
