Router swap giving me hell!

As part of a VPN upgrade plan I was tasked with removing an old Belkin router and swapping it with a Netgear one. Admittedly the only thing that could have stung me was the Netgears IP was 192.168.0.1 whereas the Belkins was 192.168.2.1 and the server DHCP et al was set up to that router.

The only other thing that was different was the security.

So, I swapped the routers out and changed the netgears IP to 192.168.2.1 in a bid to be clever.

We also have a wireless print server so I popped upstairs and changed that to connect to the new SSID of the Netgear router. OOO the print server AP is also Netgear.

Well, everyone got internet no problem so the DNS and DHCP of the server is OK but no one could access the network shares, and when connecting to outlook they were asked to enter their logon information!

I tried everything I could think of, rebooted the server, even tried re-connecting one of the PCs to the domain as a test and it could even connect.

If you went START>RUN and typed \\myservershare then nothing happened.

In the end I gave up and swapped back to the Belkin in the interests of service continuity :p

What could I possible be missing here?

EDIT: Sorry misread :p

Check the IP address of the server... with the new setup can you ping the server by IP?

What are the DNS Settings on one of the clients with the new setup? Primary DNS should point to the DC

Thats just it, DHCP and DC on the same box and DHCP assigns the right pool of address to the laptops.

You can ping the server from the PCs and connect to it remotely too.

Can you ping the other workstations?

Maybe it's worth trying the IP instead of the host name. \\192.168.2.12
