hello! and happy new year!

so i went out and bought myself some new bad boy JBL Speakers managed to fit the front ones ok .... although it was a bit of a hastle as i had to drill holes because it was a non standard mount! then putting all the trim back on! argh! hastle! but now i have some nice front speakers... cool...

ok now we get to the back end of the beast.. there are factory speaker "holes" ready for some speakers to be put there but i can see no cables.. now the din connector for the head unit has 8 speaker wires connected, 2 for each of the front speaker ( 4 cables in total ) and the other 4 are a mystery!! i am asuming that rover would have actually wired the car for back speakers even though they were never installed? thats that only reason i can think that there are the full 8 wires in the din connector.. but who knows? (well not me thats kinda why i am here:D) now i am hoping there is a rover owner out there who knows this...

i really dont fancy spending ages rewireing the din connector ( cutting 4 wires then reconnecting 4 new ones then some how wiring it through my car to the back ) omg even thinking about it makes me want to cry! :(

does anyone know whats going on here? (ive looked in the back factory speaker loacations and there doesnt seem to be any cables ready to be plugged into some speakers. although they could be hidden behind some panneling... although it really would surprise me if they didnt put wires all the way to the back just to save money on wires! although there are 100% enough wires @ the head unit din connecter (8 wires) suggesting wiring may be inplace!

well a pickler here.. any help would be appreciated!

cheers!

In most Rover 200s/25s the speaker wiring is hidden by just the boot carpet but if it's not connected at the front it sounds like the wiring is not there (some trim levels did not have rear speakers as even an option). Do you regularly have rear passengers? If not there's no point fitting rear speakers as it will make the sound worse.

there is cabeling from the head unit... just none i can see at the back..... damn its raining now... i cant check! :(

I was told not to place speakers in the back there because it will give bad resonance. Better to use a parcel shelf stelth install I think.

I'm presuming in classic rover style you have a very similar setup to mine regardless of which mk you own :p

my main problem is not knowing if there are cables are there... the holes are there but there were never ever back speakers installed... factory or otherwise... i am lost

its the bubble model.. :)

hello!

well i had a look and i found em! so thats a bonus like..! woop... no to order some back speakers! more JBLs me thinks

Dont spend too much on them because the frame for the rears is not good at stock and from what Iam told, that is as important as the speaker for sound quality

yeah ive heard that a few times now..... i am a sound engineer so i shall report back if my tuned ears detect crappy sound :) if there are crap i will just parcel shelf them.
but i am really glad that there were wires there... seemed a bit like a nightmare of a job wiring it through my car.... i had to do it with my last car and it pritty much took up most of the day... although i did install an amp in that one... this one shuld be sweet without it. hopefully!
