Royal Baby soon to put in an appearance

I don't know what the all fuss is, the true days of Monarchy's has gone, but having a head of state and all round representative of GB (and attached family) is a good thing, and something a prime minister could never do as well.

It ALL boils down to jealousy boofrickinhoo
While it may suit your agenda to imply that all criticisms on the monarchy are based off jealousy it sadly doesn't make it so.

Not everybody is so self-centred to allow differences in material wealth to cloud their judgement, don't assume everybody else is as intellectually flawed as you are (note : this is not an insult - but a stated fact based on the constant logical fallacies you keep falling into).

The performance of the Royal Family, the financial contributions are all void points.

Firstly, we have no point of comparison to say how well an elected head of state would have performed.

Secondly, we have no idea as to the potential economic benefit an alternative head of state could have with the UK - along with potential changes in recent times a strong head of state would have been quite useful (ie, our involvement in recent conflicts).

Neither do I believe the economic benefit is justification for the existence of a institution at odds with the very idea of equality & social mobility.

No wonder he is screaming! Look at how he is restrained.

The royals are treating it like they are treating the rest of the UK.

Am I doing it right?

Good for them in all seriousness. I'm not bothered by the royals but I'm not a narrow minded fool and can appreciate the wider appeal they have to the rest of the world.

awww lol.

Don't think I'll have much chance to smile and wave mind you.

When I last saw the queen in her cavalcade I stuck the middle finger up at her. This was admittedly some 15 years ago.

:D

A few more pictures like that and we'll turn you into a rampant royalist. :p:D

I was 14. And yes, I was quite pleased with myself. I have been to the garden party since then to see what all the fuss was about, their sandwiches were crap and the bubbly cheap.

Wouldn't go again.

Sadly this is a forum, not one dedicated to sycophantic celebrity worship - a forum in which people are able to express different points of view.

I suggest if you don't want to read others points of view you stop visiting forums.

Would you go into a particular Grand Prix thread to moan about the whole of F1, it's rubbish, it's just a parade, it's just cars driving round in circles for two hours, it's not a proper sport etc? No, you wouldn't clutter up the thread about a particular event for that... you'd create a separate thread for discussion on that topic.

The news is sickening celebrity worshiping pap over this non-event, in any case was quite amusing when the republican guy on BBC breakfast totally owned that stupid royalist with facts rather than made up ****

Poor comparison, the head of the state to which I'm a member of is actually related to me, a sport to which I have no interest isn't.

Please try harder.

What, that because they are republicans that they themselves are lazy and bitter?

Some have admitted to hating them, that maybe ticks one box for some people.

And the rest of the generalisation?

I was referring to the second part of your post. Republicans have already been making sweeping statements denigrating those holding a different position.

That's not a trait exclusive to Republicans either.

Many people seem to think that you must hate the UK if you dislike the Royal Family, simply don't understand economics, are jealous or simply "angry" - ignoring the vast numbers of reasons a person may or may not agree with the concept of an unelected head of state.

People build straw men on both sides of the argument, it's hardly surprising that it's an emotive subject - it's one related to identity.

The OP in this thread is in relation to Kate having a child, wishing her good luck and asking about names. It doesn't mention anything about the head of state nor your points of view on the Royal family.

Please try to read the OP harder and stay on topic
