Royal fail special deliveries and tracking

I Having a package sent from southern scotland (fife) to nottingham, due to the bad weather I expected it to not to get here for a few days at least. However on thier site it still reports

Item (number) was posted at 69 Crossgate KY15 5AS on 07/12/10 and is being progressed through our network for delivery.

I rang this post office, they had a collection that evening, does anyone thats postie 'savvy' know why this tracking hasnt been updated, my belief was that specials were meant to be given 1st priortity.

Anyone else here in the same boat.

I've been waiting a week now for a next day delivery from Parcel Force, called the depot a couple of times and it sounds as though they're in a right mess - no prioritisation at present, delivering at random.

Yep in same boat.

Mine was 3 days late :(

Does the before 1pm guarantee not stand at the moment?

Last week, I was advised that it didn't apply when I sent an item by special delivery. I sent one yesterday and they never mentioned anything.

The tracking on the item I sent yesterday said 'We expect to deliver your item before the time'. It's now changed to 'progressing through our system'. Thanks RM.

The gareentee does not stand mine says the exact same thing... "it is being processed through the network", just whilst I was out this afternoon I must have pasted at least 5 posties deliveries as well as numberous vans, so this makes me feel better, that thier doing thier best.

Better than a company called Interparcel, it's been in Aberdeen for a week now, still haven't managed to deliver it! Useless *****

Dont even get me started on interparcel, there really bad. The item I am having sent WAS going to be sent through these jokers, they failed to pick up it. Thier customer service staff on the phone were all quite rude.

I had to fill out 2 P91 forms and send them to Royal Mail, they had lost LoveFilm 2 DVD rentals in the normal post.

LoveFilm did not receive the confirmation from Royal Mail and they debited my account £20. Irony is that Royal Mail did not receive them because they got lost in the post.

So I call LoveFilm, with much disdain. They credit my account back and say "sorry" and offer me a load of discounts (I threatened to cancel). But I swear the lady I spoken to was reading from script, how bad do Royal Mail have to be if a company already has a set procedure in place for them losing mail (and the P91 forms)?

That was back in October when I should have received these forms ;), LoveFilm gives you a lot of leeway before they charge you when Royal Mail misplaces mail. It may arrive 2 days later, 2 months later or maybe not at all.

I could think of worse services than Royal Mail, the only one which I've actually ever been impressed with was UPS.
