RSS Feeds

Only one im using on my k800i is the bbc news feed, have it updating every 2 hrs or so.
Havent had much of a chance to put some more on there yet but i do like this feature though.

@ Phil GR,

Mate I just got my K800i and being a bit thick maybe but dont know how to add more feeds any advice as it seems you got more than the normal ones on there.

Cheers

Tried adding daily rotten and it failed miserably. I use the GoogleNews a lot and I love the service.

The only problem I have is that in the places where I would like to know the news most (like on climbing trips) I just cant get 3g reception so have to go without...

yep, you will get charged to going rate for GPRS usage (obviously depending on if you have any text/data packages or what network you are with)

My mum is on o2 contract and she has 1mb free per month, will this be ok.

If I were to just set the feed to download once a day, would it theoretically fall within the 1mb O2 limit? Pretty lame that I have to pay so much to access the net...

Depends on your contract and whether or not you have to pay for data usage. Best ring them up and ask them.

It would definatley go over. T-mobile are so cheap for data though it's practically free. :)

Why that's great, i'll just go and tell O2 that I've got bored of them after having the phone three weeks :p Poosticks. Is there any way I can find out how much data has been transferred by the phone, so if I were to want to set up an RSS feed i could see how much is generally transmitted? (£3 a MB is ridiculous...)

I have just reset the Data Counter in My K800 and updated the BBC RSS feed and then check it and it now shows

Sent - 1939 bytes
Recieved - 21167 bytes
Session time - 13 sec

Yes gprs monitor will calculate data transferred over whatever connection you set it to monitor.

Rightyho, i've just updated the Beeb RSS feed and it came to a total of 26kb... If I do that every day for a month it *should* come to less than a meg, and I can't see myself using the net for anything else... So two questions...
Is it possible to set the scheduling for a specific time? I can only find the option of doing it "once a day", and I'd like it as I wake up.
And secondly, what's the GPRS monitoR? i looked but couldn't find anything resembling it...

Many thanks :)

Its a program you have to buy, It's designed for windows mobile though I don't know if it works on normal phones. It shows you the true amount of data transferred it tends to be higher than the size of the webpage or feed because of stuff like overheads etc.
