RTS for a Casual Gamer?

RTS and casual does not compute.

RTS games are designed to be played by tactical geniuses and thus thats the sort of people who generally play them.

If you want a rts thats a bit slower paced, try age of empires 3 + expansions.

 They are pretty different in their execution, much smaller squads/groups and not much real base building in SP DOW2 compared to COH.

you hardly build in CoH... its all about point captures like DoW2, and using cover system like dow2. Its the same engine/same company they're very similar imo.

I completed dow2 in January and really enjoyed it. I would strongly reccomend that for a "casual" gamer. It is not super challenging, has as a fun story and enjoyable character progression.

i just re-installed the whole C+C series, (the first decade- tiberium wars i couldn't get in to). absolutely brilliant!
i've been playing Company of Heroes for about 2 months now and, whilst i enjoy it, it does get a bit infuriating on multilayer with a (imo) poor population cap system, i know some people like it, but not for me.
I'd say it has a steepish learning curve.

i find myself going back to C+C!!:)

edit- i'm not bashing COH, it is a great game, but i think i got a bit bored with it as the pop. cap means that every multiplayer game ends up a little bit boring for me.

I can't help but see Company of Heroes and casual in the same sentence and think "does not compute". Even the SP is fairly complex.

SupCom 2 is more casual. My personal favourite for C&C is Red Alert 2 w/ Yuri's. Yuri vs AI, make sure no enemy is also Yuri = you completely overpowered. You could win 7v1s easily with him by just capturing everything the enemy sent at you and sending it straight to the grinder.

Company of heroes is excellent (I dont remember a huge learning curve though). Just playing World in Conflict now, as I picked it up with the expansion pack for 3.99 from a well known game store.

Have you not played online? You will get decimated by those who know what they are doing untill you have put many hours in learning the ins and outs and quite frankly I don't consider the single player of any RTS because the AI is never a chalange compared to a human unless it just outright cheats.

Red Alert 2 has to be one of my favourite games ever. Probably the first PC game i bought actually. If only there were more online players.

I play online with a few mates with hamachi every now and then.
Generals is good too.
