Just get the OLED from John Lewis and pay the £140 for 5 years accidental damage which includes burn-in.
As already said though, a lot of tech has been added to prevent burn-in.
I’ve been gaming solidly on my C9 for a couple of months now and no issues but I have the peace of mind for the next 5 years at least in case it does occur.
For pure gaming and TV usage sure, but it simply can't be used as a sole desktop monitor. Your task bar, desktop wallpaper, desktop icons, google chrome bookmarks, MS Word/Excel/Outlook work etc etc will all burn in quickly. I say this as someone that would have got a 48CX over my current AW3420DW if not for this.
100% what this guy said, JL now got the 48CX in stock you just have to call them I think within few days or purchase and ask for the burn in insurance, JL also the only company in UK to cover burn in with OLEDs.
freesync however is AMD - i have a nvidea card if that makes any difference
been using it for months without issues, for 12 hours a day for Work & for gamingI wouldn't touch an OLED with a barge pole for gaming. If you play anything with static UI elements you will end up with screen burn which is not covered under warranty. Personally I don't have any games that do not have static UI elements.
You'd be better off with a Samsung QLED, they are also made with high refresh and freesync but do not burn.
Get an OLED if you can. I've been gaming on my 55 LG C7 for 3 years now and no issues at all. The image quality is amazing. I'll be upgrading to a CX or newer if available when I get a new card, probably early next year.
Sorry I beg your pardon? There's actual burn in insurance? That literally negates the only potential downside of having one and using it as a standard desktop monitor. I wouldn't even bother hiding my taskbar/moving windows about. If it burns in after a year, just claim on the insurance and get a new one?
Surely there must be a catch? Could you kindly tell me everything about this because if there's actually no catch, I'll buy a 48CX tomorrow and sell my AW3420DW and never look back.
JL are literally the only retailer to include burn proof protection, if you search for any oled TV on their site say the LG 55CX and on the right it says 5 year protect plus under that is a leaflet link which shows everything covered in green including screen burn in. It's done in partnership with D&G Insurance and cost £140 usually.
You've just cost me £2300 old boy, (48CX + £800 for a RTX 3080 with HDMI 2.1, more if I end up having to get a 3090). Please contact JL and NVidia respectively for your commision, will post pics in a month or so when I've hopefully joined the OLED gang.
It be it the normal size monitor to have in 10 years timetrue, 75" is also rather big as a desktop monitor![]()

But the CX made all other models' black levels to appear crushed by comparison.- Just buy any normal LG remote. It's been the same design for years and even the big chunky ones still work. You might lose a button or two like the Amazon Prime button.I bought an LG CX oled to go with an eventual rtx 3080 new build..I'm reading that the firmware needs fixing right now to reach 4k 120hz and could take a few weeks to roll out. At least both waits cancel each other out for now!
I was originally set on a QLED for gaming such as a Q90T. With me personally being a blinds open lights on movie watcherBut the CX made all other models' black levels to appear crushed by comparison.
That aside, I already loathe the swishy nintendo wii nunchuck / cornish pasty remote control..It runs on 2.4ghz wifi and already interferes with a nest outdoor cam nearby.
Moreover, it displays a hideous no signal message plastered over the beautiful backdrops if you are a cord cutter without an hdmi plugged in or tv tuned to dtv/satellite etc. The transparent box cannot be turned off manually and will stay there until you enter a webos app such as netflix.
This wasp I am chewing really tastes like buyers remorse!
