Rumoured GTX590 in February

You really need more than 1 card anyhow to get decent performance with 3 screen setups at a decent resolution so don't really see thats a problem - and you'd be better off we 2x slightly cheaper cards than one of the top end for that kinda setup.

What dreaded microstuttering?

Which is next to none in practical terms I'm guessing.

There is enough interest for Matrox to sell a standalone product triplehead2GO
There is enough interest for ATI to include it.
There is enough interest for NV to follow suite.
There is enough interest for software SoftTH.
There is enough interest for it to be include in laptops.

And interest is growing all the time & the benefit of productivity which is not performance dependent.

Nothing wrong with 3 x 1680x1050 & even though most of us would like high performance there are plenty of people who settle for less with just one card.

I mean NV would not offer Phyxs & 3D on a single card if people would only use it in multi GPU situations because of performance.

The pic shows dual 8 pin power connectors unless I'm mistaken, 375W

And given the superb cooling system in the 580 hopefully this might be the first top end dual GPU part to not sound like a jet engine under load.

The 7950GX2 wasn't that loud under load TBH.

I really hope that image is not of the card they plan to launch. TBH I think this will come to nothing looking at that pic.

99.9% of gamers do not have the funds or the wish to use three monitors, It's a very small market.

I personally think a lot of the gamers that have £500 or £600 to spend on graphics card might also have the money to buy a 3 monitor setup. There is plenty of interest around and there seem to be a few people with those setups.

I also do not think it is solely directed at gamers, even the lowly 5450 can drive 3 monitors, that is where AMD have got the upper hand.

D'you think AMD will be making a reply after the 590 release?

I think nVidia will be making a reply after the 6990 release if you get my drift. ;)

It was if you turned the fans upto 100% :D didn't really hear it under normal conditions but I had the spacer kit on mine due to benchmarking it on phase.

Is it just me that reads stuff like this and thinks "weirdo"

Its good to see the amount of choice out there at the moment from BOTH manufacturers

You're definitely not the only one.

Why is this excellent news please explain?,surely if NV dominate the market again then they can increase prices, thats not good surely

He's absolutely in love with nVidia, and it's really weird.

I remember when the 295 was around, never heard a peep back then about single gpu this and that lol. Crossfire and sli are king, I loved my last crossfire setup and will get another 470 soon when money Permits :) I'd love a 6990 or nvidias vapourware 590 but funds alas do not permit :(

That's the way it seems to work with a lot of people around here, when nVidia has the top graphics card, even if it's a dual GPU one, it's "the best" and doesn't matter than it's dual GPUs, when AMD have the fastest card, people whinge about how it's unfair to compare a dual GPU card to a single GPU card, even though they're both single slot (PCI-E) graphics cards.

I don't really get why people even care any which company has the single best graphics card, if it's the card you're not buying, then it doesn't even matter.

The current lot of cards from AMD and nVidia are a let down anyway compared to the previous lot, both the GTX580 and 6970 are around the same amount faster than the GTX480 and 5870, yet you get people like Stulid gushing over how great the 580 is and how much of a let down the 6970 is. In my opinion, they're both let downs, but still good cards in their own respect, even if they're both overly expensive.
