Running Windows Update on Win 7 Home

Ive been trying to reformat and reinstall win7 home on my pc, now it seems to be hanging for some reason whilst doing the installing windows update bits.

Ive installed windows. installed the mobo driver disk. now im trying to update windows and it just seems to hang after its installed a couple of the updates.

Does anyone have any sugestions?

I would download Windows 7 Service Pack 1 while its online and working and back it up somewhere.

Next i would reinstall Windows then apply the service pack from the backup.

Unless the hanging is because it is downloading the service pack as it is quite large?

What does it say its doing under the updates?
