I recently formated a comp that came with windows xp home edition and put xp pro on it. Now when i boot the comp it brings up 2 optons as if i am dual booting. One for xp pro and the other for xp home. Ofcourse the xp home one doesnt work and was wondering if there is a way i can remove it from the list? Otherwise it takes 30 secs to automatically select pro if you arnt at the computer! If i cant remove it from the list is there a way of making the time shorter?
Thanks

You'll probably won't to go to control panel - system - advanced- then under 'Startup and recovery' click settings, there you I would think (never done it myself) you will be able to make the changes you need.

When I click edit, I get this so it maybe usefull to you.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

I would be more concerned how you managed to "format" a PC but leave the boot loader intact. Maybe other thnigs are still left that could cause issues.
Was the Home installation on a drive other than primary (c:)?

El_Watcher, it's an xp setup bug

if you do a quickformat on a drive that currently has XP home on it (from the XP pro setup), and install XP pro then you'll get both on the startup

a retarded bug that makes no sense

:eek:WOW:eek: How in the 10 years I have been installing XP have I never heard of that.
TBH I would never trust the Windows setup disk to format a HDD anyway. I would always use HDD manufacturer's utility or a partition tool off Hiren's/Ultimate boot CD.
