Russian airliner missing over Egypt

The deed was probably done, I doubt they are going to try their luck twice in the same place. Not this soon anyway, although caution is good

Things are going to get heated now ten fold.

When are we expecting full conclusion?

Well there comes a time when wanting to see a few ruins would be pretty irrelevant if the country was not safe.

Well if its anything to go by, maybe it would be beneficial seeing these things, before IS start destroying them, like they have in other parts of the world.

Although saying that, I think its uttertly pointless going on holiday when your safety is unknown unless you are stuck poolside.

I flew in from Abu Dhabi this morning. Was expecting tightened security but we were told not to bother removing electronics or liquids from bags. They randomly stopped the odd person and asked them to open their bags.

Having said that, I left liquids in my laptop bag leaving Heathrow last weekend and nobody stopped me. Pretty shocking tbh. Normally it prompts a bag search and that swab analysis thing they do.

Since I work between London and the middle east it's pretty hard to stop flying out there. My advice is carry on as normal :)

To be honest everyone seems to be pointing every single aim at Sharm airport, which they should rightly do, but this should be a major operation to audit the security in a lot of major airports and hubs IMO.

They need to think outside the box here, not patch up Sharm's security and say all problems are fixed, not if there are other places with lax security.

These airports need to be on their toes, seems they are not operating with enough substance. And this sort of event is a very real threat, as we have seen.

Its quick to fall back and let things slip through the net, however there are threats which are getting smarter every day.

Carry on as normal indeed, however my advice to the officials would be to take this one balls up, and use it as an opportunity to audit and overhaul anyone who is not conforming enough to strict security measures.

I don't think Russia has the balls tbh, they'll talk all big and tough like they always do, but when it comes down to it - if they perform any serious deployment, they'll just make a big mess and fail, (not that the west has really done much better,)

It is sad that we are in this situation. The loss of life in the iraq war, then afghanistan. And for what? Back to square one.

I'd imagine the chances of getting such a device on a flight originating from airports such as Heathrow, Amsterdam, Munich, LAX etc has been virtually zero, and has probably been so ever since just after the Lockerbie bombings. The problem, as we've seen, are less secure airports such as Sharm El-Sheik.

This is why a major security audit needs to be done, bar needs to be raised and it needs there needs to be quartarly checks to ensure they are hitting security targets. This should be a standard across all international airports. Countries of High risk of terrorism being a priority

Egypt is a highly popular destination for holidaymakers, well its declining since threat but still.

All international airports should be inline with security, if they are not, penalise them or take other action.

There will be improvements on this though
