Considering purchasing a Ryzen 1600x and pairing it with a asus b350 strix gaming f motherboard.

I was wondering if there would be any issues i.e would the cpu work out of the box. I ask this because I have heard that some b350 motherboards needed a bios update prior to working with a Ryzen 5 cpu.

As this would be my first build, I'd like to avoid as much hassle as possible. If anyone could shed light on this I'd be extremely grateful.

Kind regards,

Mr H

This is the first I've heard of a ryzen 5 needing an update before they work.
I'm sure someone with a ryzen 5 will share their experience but I am confident it will work without issue.

I must confess I came across this when browsing Reddit. With individuals saying that they could not boot up with their r5 1600 and that they had to use a r1700 instead.

Apparently it was related to a bios issue that wouldn't recognise anything other than an r7 cpu.

I was just hoping that this issue is not prevalent, and something that wouldn't affect the asus strix b350 and 1600x. Hopefully others can enlighten me.

Thankyou for the reply.

Kind regards,

Mr H

If the Strix is like the CH6, not only you don't need to boot the system to upgrade the BIOS, but doesn't even need CPU installed to do so. Just being plugged on the PSU.
So I don't see an issue, even if it needed it.
