Hi folks,

I have built a couple rigs here and benchmarking with the same RAM/GPU etc and good cooling on both but wondering how I can up my Ryzen score if its possible to match or beat the intel? Is it simply a case that this should be expected or whats your thoughts?

They are very close at least!

Interesting that the GPU seems to work better with the AMD setup.

Quick specs;
i19-10900k/ATX Asus ROG maximus hero XII/RTX 3070 FE/Corsair 32gb 3600mhz vengeance pro
Ryzen 7 5800x/ITX x570 Auros pro/RTX 3070 FE/Corsair 32gb 3600mhz vengeance pro

Are you looking at the overall score or the cpu score?

Yes the overall score is close but there is a gulf in cpu scores, over 2000 in fact, the same difference between a 2700x and a 5800x. That can’t be overcome.

I wouldn't worry about the benchmark scores as the difference in gaming will be minimal between the two. All you're seeing us the difference due to the extra cores on the Intel chip.

If you want to tweak the 5800X you can max out the PBO settings, tweak curve optimiser and try getting the IF upto 1900mhz. Its unlikely to make up for the core deficit but those extra cores may be of no real benefit currently depending in your workload.

Isnt the 5800X now £100 cheaper than the 10900k?
Similar benchmarks / gaming fps, less core, less power, less cost. 5800X

Yes but the 10850k which is basically the same is £400 right now

Well if the 10900K is this close, the 10850K would be worse under stock vs stock settings. With PBO2 guys are seeing a decent uplift in performance so I guess it comes down to how far you can stretch them.

10850k performs pretty much like the 10900k like 1-2 frames in it

Intel never sent review samples of these so didn't get much publicity

£400 for 10 cores not too shabby

Yea, I guess if you're doing gaming and thread-heavy productivity workloads then it's a good balance, otherwise for pure gaming you'd be better off with the 5800X

agreed, the 10900k has loads more in it,

oc'd 10900k intel
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/16059926 - CPU Score 16403

all core clocked 5800x I built
https://www.3dmark.com/spy/16278586 - CPU Score 13109

even tried an msi board which was another 25/50mhz but lower score.
I'd like to have a play with a 5900x/5950x when I can get one. (maybe 17k cpu score)

I disagree with Mesai, intel for gaming 100%
amd 5950x is the fastest in warzone battle royal.
