S.T.A.L.K.E.R soc - Wont save!?!?! :(

Hey guys.

Now ive looked about and tried a few things but there's not much i could find out and what i found out has'nt helped :(

I got STALKER - Shodow of Chernobyl off Steam about a month back because it was £3 or summat and i had it running fine on W7 64 bit pro. However i did a reformat on my HDD and re-installed it and now im starting the game again from scratch and every time i try to save/quicksave the game it just does'nt. There is just no file available when i go to load next time :confused:

I read that it's a bug and you have to re-install it (which i have done about 5 times now) and it still has the same problem.

You guys are my last hope now lol if i can't get it working again with your help im just going to give up on this game just as i was past the boring begining bits too lol :(.

First thing i'd suggest is, when you reinstall, having told steam to delete the files, have you gone around the steam folder and (cant remember if it keeps config and save data in my documents) anywhere else applicable and made sure all traces are removed from your hdd?

Not had the issue myself though :(
 
Thanks il give that a try.

Failing that i think il put my old HDD back in and see if i can get it working from that HDD and if so try and copy the files across.
 
well I think it might have been installed on a E: drive and now its on C: so il have a look if i can change it to save in C: :)

Have you tried looking at the folder permissions for the save folder, which by default(although not sure weather this is the same for steam) is C:\Users\Public\Documents\STALKER-SHOC
