As the title says.
I'm currently looking for a new monitor.
I'm swamped with the amount I can see on the market.

I have seen the Dell S2719DGF however some say that IPS is better than TN, so then it became confusing looking at S2719DC, I though great a IPS for similar price, however saw that it only had 60hz.

I currenlty have a i7 2600k and Vega 56. This is on a Samsung ls23a700d monitor.
I do sit directly in front of my screen and don't generally do much multitasking or photoshop work (only for fun) though colour accuracy would be nice.

So with the Dell been around £350, I'm looking for a monitor upto £500 that is;
Bigger than the 23" I currently have, so becomes more immersive.
Good response time for gaming
Good refresh rate
Probably 1440p - Upgrade from the 1080p I have, without bringing system to it's knees.

Any recommendations to save hours and hours of reading?
I do plan of maybe upgrading mobo/memory/cpu when ryzen comes out, should it be reasonable price. So houghts would be very good as if I should just wait and buy all together in one big swoop (unsure if 4k gaming would then be viable?)

Please give thought!?
Regards

Vega 56 does decently with 2560x1440 when tweaking some settings.
Also higher resolution doesn't need that much FSAA.
Monitor is certainly such long usage life component that when buying more epensive it should have better than ancient resolution.

3840x2160 is again very heavy resolution and it will be years before reasonably priced graphics cards can hope to achieve higher refresh rates.
Actually you can't even find much above 60Hz monitors for it.

Lots of 27" 2560x1440 VAs in that price range.
Most of them haven been bent by heavy arse and BS of marketroids.

IPS panels have thankfully avoided that torture and are flat.
Acer has cheap models at £347 and £360.

Then there's new pre-order £450 LG.

And then there's four years old £470 Asus.

VA has contrast advantage for darkest black of LCDs.
But that comes at expense of "black crush" and VA has major response time challenges in some grey transitions.

Thanks for the detailed reply.
The LG looks tempting. Will have to wait for early reviews as £450 is quite a chunk.
Hopefully by then, it may be a full build with the Ryzen chips releasing.

I can see a nice new rig coming together for Xmas :O)
