S60 Opinions...

I cant be bothered with being dishonest with dealers though. I took an S-Type out from the local one about 3 years ago with no bother, doubt the XF will be an issue. Will just turn up in the E60 or something, would imagine my E39 is too old hat to carry the cred these days :p

Its you not the car you drive, give it a shot, you aint telling lies, there is a possibility you would buy one, however slim.

Will have the XF over the F10, the F10 is just a bit boring really, the XF is by far the nicer place to be and the twin turbo'd engine in either tune is superb, on par with the x35d.

The F10 is a fantastic place to be provided it has the right interoir colour combination. It's absolutely wonderful inside.

Its not bad, but personally I prefer the XF particularly the S Portfolio with the XFR's seats and trim.

I think we are at a point now with this particular market where each of the main players with the exception of Audi* makes a stunning car and really, you cant go wrong.

*The A6 is absolutely ancient, overdue replacement and doesn't really do anything better than the XF, E Class or F10. I dont know about you but when buying a brand spanking new executive saloon I don't want the same model that the knuckledraggers are now picking up for £6k in the classifieds.

The Facelift A6 is not bad at all, with the right engine and equipment list, found the E interior to be quite "low rent" with really dodgy plastics particularly round the arm rest area. F10 is not bad at all, just not anything particularly special, but can't get a decent seating position in it. Had a look at some current shape S class and they are very nice.

Going back to the original question. The S60 is very nice to drive even in D3 spec. If you can get it well spec'd with things like the driver pack and nav it makes a nice place to be. The seats are very good and it's bigger inside than a 3 series and the manual gets very good mpg and is in a low tax band.

I only like them as 5k cars to be honest.

I cant help thinking if you are spending 25/26/27/28 whatever spend a bit more and get something excellent.

Absolutely, wasn't really suggesting one, just seemed like a good place to see if anyone had encountered them yet. I'd consider it a good alternative to the s60 rather than the xf/5. I've had a poke inside one and the interior is lovely, kit coming out every orifice and some decent engines. Not driven one though.

If I was looking at a 25k s60 and couldn't stretch the budget, I'd look at the 95 too. The twin Turbo diesel aero is 26k. If I could stretch it - i'd get the 5 or xf :)

Cheap interior plastics :(

It was parked in the Bullring so the interior was about all I could judge.

Its a shame really, i just cant understand why they dont get the trim right on a car they expect to compete in the lower executive market.

Drove an XF several times when it was released, excellent car. If i coud afford one I wouldnt think twice. My girlfriends parents were half heartedly looking for a car about 4 months ago, and I suggested having a look at the XF. 3 weeks later one was delivered, they fell in love with it on the test drive!
