S60 Opinions...

If we're quoting 30k figures to compare it to a 520D, I doubt it would compare! The 9-5 has tons of kit as standard

£30k?

A 520d SE has a list price of £28k. I've said this repeatedly now. It's also available for you to see on the BMW website.

Comparatively speaking the 9-5 doesnt have tons of kit as standard - it has the usual range of standard equipment for a car of this type, it even has cloth seats as standard.

Please dont make the mistake of thinking the Saab 9-5 makes up for it's high price by being generously appointed compared to the competition, because it doesnt.

I have to say i agree with Fox, at 5k i dont think there is much to touch a 9-5 for value, but at 20k plus its a dead duck especially late 20s.

Saying that i havent seen one up close, but it has got one massive problem thats FWD.

For even more money, awesome skills :)

Whats this uber awesome spec anyway, youve not said yet?

I've not delved into the spec list to see the differences, but the price list only shows 2 trim levels - Vector SE and Aero.

Fairly sure the Aero (which 26k would buy, as above) comes with Nav, full electric leather, dual zone climate, heads up display, parallel parking assistance, swiveling xenon headlights and quite a few other nifty gadgets

Normal xenons, the swivelers are extra

Heads up is extra too

Advanced park is extra too, but only £200

Nope, its a £1200 option, swivelling Xenons are £400, head up display is £600, advanced park assist is £200.

Is it not best to just admit you've got no idea what it comes with and stop trying to argue against my points without any real knowledge? :p

The 9-5 costs the same if not more as a BMW 5 Series. Please stop trying to argue otherwise.

I'm not trying to argue anything - I just said I'd look at it... I didnt even suggest the OP did. No, I dont know the spec sheet word for word and neither do I want to, you're the only one who turned it into an argument

Hey, I didnt say anything about 9-5, I wanna know about the S60 and everyone is talking about the F10.......which is an option at 28k, and yes Fox is correct P11d is where it matters for me...

Just get a honda accord. It does come with everything on exceutive trim. Its better than a saab, cheaper than bmw. Then again i drive a 17 year old space wagon so don't know much about volvos:p

The D3 manual, fully loaded is the same costs as the poverty spec 5 series. If you don't need the size then I'd seriously consider the volvo, especially as somebody else is paying the depreciation on it...

In its most basic, 'poverty spec' the 5 Series is far from badly specified though. It's not as if a poverty spec model comes with cloth seats, windup windows and no AC.

But it doesn't come with metallic paint and has the most dull set of wheels which also look hugely undersized on the car. As soon as you look to add any of the worth while options like Nav, USB interface, Xenons the price goes way past 30K

This is what drew me to it, it looks good, well specced for 26k, still classed as a 'premium' brand compared with VX/Ford etc...

I agree, its a nice looking car and a pretty decent price for what you get. I spec'd the D3 fully loaded with premium pack, R Design, drivers pack, etc and that still came to just over 28K
