Honestly if you want something at that money that wont break down and in my opinion drives very well, thats the car.

What model would you reccomend? Petrol manual would be my choce, but I have no idea on trim levels etc

They are all turbos ranging from 150-250 bhp ish.
Trim levels they all have half/full leather air con cruise etc. Just have a look through a few adverts, i think the autos drive better because they disguise the torque steer better.

Looks to be the best of them...will have to have a drive of one for sure. I'm still really enjoying the Leon FR at the moment, so no rush at all, but I'll certainly consider looking in 12 months time, and try and get an 06/07 for £5k. So many toys, but the autobox scares me a little...monster bill if that goes south

Never known anyone have one go south, obviously it must happen but its not a known problem.
