Saab 9-2 2.2TID Reviews

Boss and a few other ppl at work have had 9-3's and 9-5's each have had turbo problems, huge bills once they come out of the 3 year Warranty.

Nice looking cars (cept the new 'punched in the eyes' one) but you can do better if you ask me.

yeah sorry 9-3.

Any reason for your comment?

Purely my opinion but I don't find them deserving of the premium-brand repuation they have. The interior feels cheap and nasty, the entire car platform shares with the Vauxhall Vectra (At least the newer one does), and.. well, I just wasn't keen at all.

The dashboard looks horrid as well but thats purely subjective.

Thats a shame, but probably why there cheap.

Should I look to see if I can find one where the Turbo looks like its been replaced?

A car that age, if the problem is a regular one, will have had it replaced.

First few from parkers owners reviews.

RELIABILITY

Engine seized at 85mph on motorway, dealer refused to accept they were at fault despite it just having had a major service 150 miles before. Cost over £3,000 to put right.

RELIABILITY
This is the most unreliable car I have had. Engine rebuild after driving through water (£8000), two failed turbos, failed starter motor (recovered twice before they found the fault), now it regularly doesn't start if you leave it faced uphill overnight.

RELIABILITY

Won't start if stood for more than a few minutes, computer display failed, radio stopped working, gearbox problems, wipers work when they want, by far the worst car I have ever owned and I have had some real old bangers !

RELIABILITY

Awful! Trip computer gone. Climate display dodgy. Clutch bearing plate going. Gearbox sticky. Steering wobble. All for 70k FSH and 4 years old!!!

Loads more like this!

had an 06 model out last week.
not impressed.
torque steered badly IMHO.
the interior design looked almost dated and the materials used felt very cheap and nasty.
the cup holder on the dash flies out at warp factor six yet the one housed in the rear seats is damped.
inconsistant and unacceptable on a £25k car.

Take the above posts by people who've never owned a one but have read about one with a pinch of salt, this is the motors forum after all :p
Saabs aren't meant to be BMWs or Mercs or even Audis and the price reflects that.
Look for one with fsh or even better fssh, I'd take a high miler with good service history over one with lesser milage and poorer history any day. There's quite a few of either ex-company or privately owned but by decently monied owners around who haven't skimped on the service schedule or any faults they've had.
Also agree with TDS - highish power through the front means lots of torque steer, never thought I'd say it but they would be better going rwd with the power they are trying to apply.

Just an overpriced Vectra IMO. I'd be looking at a 1.9 engine instead of the 2.2s.

If you want the better brand then look at BMW, Merc or Audi.
