Sacked from job... what to do now?

No mention of being sacked/let go...

Are you sure this was what she meant? Never just assume as we all know what that means!!

I have just left a job because of people like those you were working with. Some people live in fear of their jobs and will share nothing, it's sad to see.

When you land a new job you will look back and be grateful they sacked you, no point wasting anytime working there.

that is unfortunate although when you are on probation you're only meant to take time off if your legs break, or something horiffic like that happens. No matter what the reason, 4 days off within 12 weeks during probation is something a manager should look at.

Sounds like bull to me, probation period, despite popular belief, doesnt mean that can fire people without good cause. Many of the laws protecting workers apply to those on probabtion too. There should be greivance/disciplinary procedures laid out in your employment contract, if those werent followed, you might have a case for wrongful dismissal.

Pointing out your holiday leave as proof of your disengagement is laughable, when you were trying to get more work by asking your manager! Sounds like they missold you the job in the interview, and didnt like being questioned.

I always grin and bare it for the first year, after that you can start mentioning certain grievances with your manager who by then hopefully you will have some sort of good relationship with.

This is one issue that happens all the time with a new person on a team, you almost have to earn their respect no matter what your previous experience.

Chalk it down to life experience.

excuses on their behalf I reckon. I will just pick myself up and move on. I wasn't happy there anyway so it's maybe a blessing.

Madness, I've just over 10 of my days in the last 3 months.

Hope you find something else soon!

I took days off during my probation period. It shouldnt be viewed in a bad way. Holidays are there to be taken.... So take them. It's crazy to think they'd use that against you.

Unfair dismissal?!

Call up some job agencies and make a few appointments (this worked wonders for me, once they met me and realised I wasn't a retard they actually found me work). They'll know what sort of thing you can get into quickly and where you stand. You have a lot of sales experience so you should be able to get into that quite easily.

Sounds like a pretty crappy working culture at that place.

That said, Id probably have handled it a bit differently. I think I would have "sucked it up" until the end of probation as someone else said, then I would have looked for another job while in a position of paid employment.

Sorry to hear about the job.

Well...how much money do you have in savings?
How much money do you have coming in?
How much money do you have going out?
How much money do you have on the credit cards?

People can't offer advice if you don't give us some number to work with!

An easy answer would be to shift the debt to a new 0% card but you probably won't qualify without any income...

£500 in savings (not even worth mentioning)
£0 coming in
£295 going out per month
£0 on 2 credit cards - In debt by £2400

:(

I know it's hard, but forget the negatives. It was a rubbish job and it sounds like they treated you like dirt. Concentrate on the positives - it was a lucky escape and won't be a big gap to hide in your employment history either.

Your debt isn't so bad - could be much worse! Get on JSA, walk down your local high street and get job apps from every shop. Just get anything for now to keep the monies flowing. Then you can sit down and think long-term. What are your living arrangements? Can family help you out for a little while?

Over the course of your working life you're going to have ups and downs. Most of us have been in your position at some point. Just tell yourself the next "up" could be just around the corner...it usually is :) Good luck!
