Sadiq Khan’s ‘affordable’ homes include £2,400-a-month rental flats, and these are one beds. This guy needs to go, but £2400 is just insane rents specially these are targeted at low income earners. More like profits for developers or there respective Housing associations.

Did you even look at the article you posted?
I can't read the whole thing, but it appears those "affordable" homes were part of a deal that was agreed upon by his predecessor, one Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson.
The rules were put in long before Boris, they could have been changed after Boris but he didn’t.

Your argument holds no water, rules can always be changed, if each mayor wants them to changed.

I can’t read the article but the term “affordable” has long been a joke when it comes to housing. All it means is 80% of market rate. So when you’re dealing with such an over inflated property market as ours- they end up nowhere near affordable.
They were put in so H.A can make profits, it a scam allow big landlords to milk the system. Just like shared ownership same as timeshare, but much worse.

It is a legalised scam, only to benefit the wealthy.

"Khan has long sought new powers to freeze rents, but ministers have rebuffed him."
80% rents is not part of that. Khan wanted private landlords to freeze rents.
H.A are not private and are not in the same group as councils, they are in the middle.

80% rents are for H.A, H.A have the final say what they charge and what group the place the property. H.A could place their entire stock as none affordable etc. and affordable means up to 80%. Meaning H.A can rent them at 50%.

If you look deeper you find H.A are own buy various equity companies each having their own covenant.

People need to understand H.A and affordability is a legalise scam, and they need to wake up to that.

Pretty much robbing the council ( council tax payers) in legal way, transferring council assets into private ownership at a massive discount.

Biggest money laundering scam I have ever seen.

That is only financial, and for links to other cities. But truly a dump of a city, and I live in one of the best parts and still think it is a dump.

It's like anything, it's what you make it. I lived in west London for years and worked in the city and the west end. I loved it then and I still do. Perhaps you should try and have a more positive attitude to life.

Sorry but London is a scam city, and dump of a city. Tell you the truth you don’t see it, or see how it really works.

Don’t take offence to this but majority that live in London do not really know how it works.

Logan run would be equivalent in nature.
It is the most corrupt city in this planet, base on valuation of transactions.

Everyone else has no idea. Ever wondered why you get called MrwRong?
Problem is most have a very sheltered life and never seen inside an engine of a car.

While very few have seen inside and really know how it works. That is the difference between us.

Sols you can post a HAHA, does not bother me. It does indicate or shall we say signals, you really have no understanding of how it truly works.

You've been considering it for 3 years.

Yes, hence it is not as simple. I would leave today. However, there are obligations I need to resolve/ fulfil before I leave.

So you're not going to Spain then...

There are 3 places I been looking at,Spain is one of them.

Uk has pretty poor quality food, substandard medical care.
The properties are small and badly built.
No sun, impolite people, streets are dirty, no style or class very bland.
Roads are terrible.
Most people are really lazy.

The country is a run down skip and that is putting it nicely.

Off you trot then, no need to tell the world about it, just get on with it.
You'll still be here in the forums, we dont care where you live, so to us, nothing would change.

Anyway back to actual topic as this went south quicker than most.

Rent freeze would be lovely and welcome.
That is one problem accept a band aid but look the other way. Not solving the real underlying problem.

I lived in Chiswick, and then just next to Richmond for a good few years - both were pretty great. It would be hard to call either of them dumps! What part do you live in?

Between the river and sticky fingers which just changed ownership and at the other end the Pancake place next to the very narrow pub.
If you know the above you know the area.

Go on then, give us a solution rather than just spouting "the real problem is not solved" nonsense at everyone.
Banning Foreign investment owning residential property. Compulsory purchase order belonging foreign owners at or below the price they paid.
