has anyone had double glazing by this company? they've been bugging me for about 16 weeks now, their original quote of £3350 is now down to £2300 and i've still turned them down, i'm angling for a budget of £2000. can anyone give me any positive or negative reports about them?

we had all the quotes and used coral ,the service was amazing and they ring years afterwards to check everythings ok

Have you told them you'll take no more than £2000?

Either way, just keep saying no, they'll come down.

no. i'm just going to keep knocking them down. the spec is 8no georgian bar with toughened glass, doesn't seem a bad price but i can imagine their fitters tunring up with a load of mastik and me recieving windows from a cancelled job, so would like to know if anyone has experience of their fitting?

We used SafeStyle and we've had to have them out twice a year, every year, for 3 years to fix the windows/doors. The main issue is that the windows whistle because the fitters used (and amazingly continue to use!) sealant that shrinks over time. This allows an air gap which whistles when windy. Its not a lot of fun trying to sleep on a windy night when the windows are howling away.
Also, I've just rung them to come out (for the third time) to adjust our back door. It "drops" apparently which means that it is a bugger to lock.

The customer service is OK (they do come out) but its annoying to have to keep getting them to solve the same two problems.

My 2p.

i have had them and i can say they are very top notch, had the full works done windows and doors back door we hada barn type door which was very nice.

they are very quick and the job was done in a day, they insure everything is correct think i had about 3 vists by the planners ect and everything and i mean everything is made to order nothing is 2nds or canceled jobs ect.we paid around 3k as we got very large windows and the wife wanted the barn door so in all a very well worth investment and they also clean up afterwards even hoover and dust everywhere if needed which was a nice touch.

Heard nothing but bad things about them, stay well away and get a local company to do it. All you have to do is look at their original quote, then look at what they are quoting you now, all this says to me si that they were originally trying to scam you for over a grand.

How can you buy from a company with such a ridiculous and agressive advertising campain?

I'd rather pay a local guy double and know the job was done properly.

ideally i would like to use a smaller, local company, the reality is that these companies are coming in at nearly £4k, ..... one said locally company has just literally called me to see if theres anything ''special'' they can do with the price

ha!

I'm sure that would work but TBH I've paid them to fit the door properly so I don't see why I should have to "bodge" a fix. My wife and I have both said that we would never use SSUK again. By coincidence, if you read that abbreviation I've just typed it sums up my thoughts of them quite nicely. :D

find out what thermal value the glass is, with glazing being such a large % or area and poor u-value the lower the thermal conductivity the better 1.8W/m2-K for new windows or 2.0W/m2-K for replacements
